My m8 preordered this and hated it by level 2 so I bought it off him. He then had a desperate 2 month wait to re-buy it after getting hooked on the multi player. This game changed everything.
ОтветитьIt's incredible what these guys did! They must be so proud!
ОтветитьPC emulation is a darn good tribute.... playing the thing on your old machine is still painfull to watch :\
ОтветитьIve watched probably an unhealthy amlunt of GE64 content and this tops it all for history. Great stuff
Ответитьthis game was truly special, so much fun to have, even after the campaign. Game still holds up well today, especially with the limited resources at the time. Still much better than a lot of the modern games today. Even manged to get a release on the xbox 25 years later. Loads of ppl world wide still play this today. Definitely a masterpieces. I wished there's more bond games like this one. I bet the team was laughing when designing Aztec ❤😂
Ответитьall these people made my childhood that much better i grew up in the 2000's but my first console was a n64 and some dude at flea market gifted me this game the music has never left me and sometimes i legit play the ost at night to sleep
Ответитьi personally think that the music in goldeneye is the best videogame music ever
ОтветитьI've come back for a second viewing a year later. Thank you.
ОтветитьWatching this feels like coming full circle for me. As a kid I was so engrossed in video games, and to me developers were god-like figures because I didn't understand how people could create such perfect worlds and characters and sounds. Now I see how games like GoldenEye or Spyro or Diddy Kong Racing were such labors of love by people pioneering a new realm of media.
ОтветитьThe game responsible for the United States FPS craze more than any other game imho, without GoldenEye there would be no Perfect Dark, without PD, no Halo, without Halo, COD wouldn’t have become the console god that it is and FPS as a genre wouldn’t be what it is today.
ОтветитьThis is great. I got to play the multiplayer a couple times as a child, but wish I could've played it more. Oh well me and my friends had Timesplitters 2.
ОтветитьNintendo needs to remaster many of their legendary titles from n64.
ОтветитьThis is gold
Ответить25 years ago, this game was a part of my, and my brothers', daily life. We played multiplayer so many times it was so fun and addictive. When it was re-released recently it was a total pleasure to play it again and experience my childhood once more. It's the perfect game, in my view.
ОтветитьHuge thanks to all people involved on this project, it is an before an after in videogames 🎉
ОтветитьCan you please talk to them about perfect dark next? I love this
ОтветитьMy favourite video documenting the making of a video game. To hear all these guys talk about how they made it all is facinating. The good old simpler days.
ОтветитьThis is my favorite game of all time along with Megaman X4. Now that I know how it was created makes me love this game even more.
And for the people saying this game aged badly, let me tell you this one is still mad fun and also a serious challenge to complete it, which are the two most important things a game could look for.
Excellent!
ОтветитьClassic
ОтветитьI was playing multiplayer with my dad at the level with Dr.doak. I swear to god the Dr. Doak NPC appeared in the office and ran to the bathroom and took a piss. I swear to god it happend. Has anyone else seen that?
ОтветитьWay back when corporate leaders were not out of touch with the game developers who can easily turn a game into their passion project and legitimately have fun. This is why Goldeneye is still one of the best FPS' of all time.
ОтветитьI went to a friends house in late ‘97 to play this, he just got it I was all about Sega…the jealousy nearly killed me!
Ответить"they didn't want to shoot women, murdering men en mass was totally ok"
ОтветитьI remember playing this way back in 90s with my brothers. Fast forward to 2023. I recently bought an N64, but my smartTVs don't have any Scart ports on my TVs or the Three Prongs can't play it. I did buy an AV to HDMI, still didn't work. Might have to buy an old big box Telly. Great video thx. 👍🏻
ОтветитьA sys admin, a biologist, an architect, and some other kids with little to no experience made the best console game in history. Today overqualified candidates with good experience are told:"Sry fam, your profile did not match the expectations, we found someone else who fits the position better".
Ответитьthe development history of this game is BY FAR one of the most interesting ones.
ОтветитьI had a blast playing duke nukem on the 64..wanted something new...had money but didnt know what to buy...then i saw the goldeneye game box...the game was like 20% cheaper ..cant remember why...bought the game without any expectations ...
came home..it was friday late afternoon ..till sunday my father, my brothers and I were all trying to figure out the objectives..back then we had no english in the school...only french ...what an experience to play thru!
i am still proud of myself that I did every cheat in the game..and when i found out you could hold 2 different guns !! oh boy!!
many hours single player game, many many hours multiplayer with friends ..
the only games that i have a similar story to tell, is: super ghost and goblin's on the snes, shen mue on the dreamcast, tomb raider 2 on the ps1 and wcw vs nwo revenge on the 64
from the new games i would say the last of us 1 on the ps3 came really close to what goldeneye gave me! simply a 5 0f 5 surprise !🍻
take care, enjoy life, dont take stuff to serious ..and work as if the company is yours but not to death..may peace be with you always!
What an absolute gem of a video. I still remember renting this game in the October after it came out. Managed to get it that Xmas but remember playing as much as possible before havung to return the rental. I strongly associate this game with the chill of fall and the smell of lit fireplaces. Take me baaaaaack!
ОтветитьThanks for making this. Learned a lot about my favorite N64 game. Got it and the system for Xmas in a bundle, Christmas 1997. Replayed the whole thing this winter after its XBox Game Pass release. Much fun and nostalgia.
ОтветитьThank you so very much to all the Rare members involved with making this game you guys set the bar and blew past it and let this young boy back in the day play thousands of hours worth of Goldeneye on the N64 while sick and in and out of the hospital to pass the time!
I still have my N64 and Goldeneye game with my saved profile with everything unlocked! I worked my ass off to get it all and was so worth it!!
Again I tip my hat to fellas, my childhood was a fun one and ushered in a whole new level of gaming for me…
The AK-47 in this game always reminded me of a Duracell Battery....
ОтветитьI find it incredible how a bunch of guys that never made a video game have made one of the best video games of all time.
ОтветитьThis was incredible. Thanks for making this!!!
ОтветитьPretty ironic, as Nintendos current strategy is to ensure graphics are of a quality reflective of the best 2009 had to offer
ОтветитьPlz make a remake of this game on all platforms, mostly Playstation 4-5
This game is legendary
I wish to hear about Blast corps in debth like this game. or Starfox
I also wonder what asset.. what thing or even API was the longest line of code was.. even the doors seem evolved to me as they open again after a while when the collision with the player happens for more than one second with the moving object. . ? and was making boxes and shelf's that took dmg and get darker in color to show their damage was that Grants idea since it's just the same in Blast Corps.
Absolutely loved this game
ОтветитьDefinitely a world setting game, Definitely historical.
ОтветитьFantastic video, very interesting. Well done
ОтветитьI knew it was ground breaking. But had no idea they used motion capture... love this game even have it emulated on my laptop...
ОтветитьLiterally the most overrated game in history. Worse in every way to fps current and even former games at the time.
ОтветитьYes! 👏👏
ОтветитьOne of the things I loved the most is the Goldeneye VHS tape the devs threw in for the cctv tape.
ОтветитьAppreciate the Rare team for aiding in the creation of a memorable childhood. Still playing today.
ОтветитьI'm a year late finding this docu, but it's amazing. This particular docu is in line with the awesome of Goldeneye itself.
Ответить
