Just spent my 2nd Christmas in Chester this last year and proposed to my fiancée on by the clock whilst all the Xmas lights were out, a truly magical holiday!!
ОтветитьChester: Fabulous ! Thanks for this excellent video
ОтветитьLove chester, so beautiful! It's not well known that the canal was made by digging further down into Chester's moat. Lovely bit of original roman wall above it there - by Northgate. 😊
ОтветитьThe clock was completed in 1897 but wasn't working until 1899

ОтветитьBig Ben is not a clock!!!!!
ОтветитьWhen I lived there it was not pedestrianised.
ОтветитьVisited Chester for the first time last month! I was amazed what a lovely City it is. It had been on my bucket list for years to walk round the walls. Only did part of them so must go back.
ОтветитьWonderful exploration of Chesters history where I was born
ОтветитьIt's interesting that the narrator mentions that Chester used to be called Deva Vitrix or was built on a ancient Roman fortress with this name because here in the UK 🇬🇧 we have a soap opera which is set in Chester called Hollyoaks on Channel 4 in which the character of Louise Summers (Roxanne McGee) mentions this historical fact in one episode from 2006 and yet her blonde bimbo friend and co - worker Carmel McQueen (Gemma Merna) didn't understand this fact and thinks she (Louise) is talking about the fact that Thailand used to be called Siam LOL! Such a shame Louise and Carmel were both killed off though in 2008 and 2014 respectively!
ОтветитьGreat video! Thanks!
Ответитьan awesome tour! thanks for having made the video

Ответитьam a Born and Bred Cestrian , Chester is a Beautiful City , They's many , many more Historical points you could have included in this video , but it would onf been 24 hours long !!! , Excellent Vid though 👏👏👏😘
ОтветитьI live here.
Ответитьits not just the nothgate street pret cafe that has ruins incased in glass, a lot of the ruins are preserved that was in Chester. I used to work in a shop on northgate street and in the stock room there was a whole wall of glass at the back that preserved another set of ruins. There is also the remains of a roman strong room preserved in more glass behind the Forum shopping center. you never know where you'll find them
ОтветитьWhat part of the walls is original?
ОтветитьYou should visit Lowe & Sons located on the rows. They are the oldest jewellers in Chester and have an in-house museum with ties with the titanic and the royal family. :) Worth the visit!

ОтветитьHello lets walk fancstic vidio of Chester were they film Hollyoaks which I watch me and my partner Andrew have been to Chester lovely city take care stay safe from Lynn x x
ОтветитьThank you. An energetic and comprehensive tour of this ancient historic city. I was born and raised not far from Chester, so visited, oh, dozens of times, and no doubt led to my eventual degree in Medieval History. For those interested, a significant section of Roman wall can be seen alongside the canal, and another section, part of the original Roman dock, out at the Roodee, the Chester racecourse.
Finally, your correct use of the Roman legions is impressive, adding to what is a wonderfully produced city walk - well done indeed. :)
A Very Beautiful City, Thank you for Tour Video
ОтветитьWe stayed in Chester for a few days back in 2019. Loved the city and walking the walls. My favorite city is York, but Chester isn't far behind! Great reminisce, thank you!
ОтветитьGreetings from Wisconsin. Loved the video! Especially the history narrative. Thank you
