Amen to the ending soundtrack in Battle Angel Alita: It actually got me hooked on finding and reading the manga series, as the song itself left me wondering more about the haunting implications of the world the characters had to live in, not to mention to deep human needs and suffering that were more subtly portrayed in the series. I honestly thought few people were affected by that song, so thank you for mentioning. A poignant ending song if there ever was one.

"Top 10". Goes on to list all the flaws of several of them. Doesn't include seminal works like Akira, Armitage, Appleseed, Dominion Tank Police, Megazone 23, nor Bubblegum Crisis. But it did include the OAV prequel AD Police Files for some reason.

Most, if not ALL of these anime are influenced by Blayrunner Runner (Released in 1982). I hate hate how the narrator started the video under the pretense that "anime was this revolutionary force that brought life into the Cyberpunk Genre" without giving credit to the forefathers of Cyberpunk .

A.D Police Files is a straight rip of Blade Runner, not that I dislike the anime, or any on this list, but fact is that the entire look of the Cyberpunk genre started in 1982 with the movie Blade Runner. I do love that the Japanese grabbed the look and ran with it, Akira is visually stunning, and while the Akira Manga and the film Blade Runner came out in the same year, there is no evidence that the look was from either effected the other, thou the movie reached an international audience well before the manga. What I feel needs to be looked at is why is the aesthetic so similar, where is the root for the two creators to come up with what a world could look given the overarching societal norms in the cyberpunk genre.

Ghost in the Shell Innocence is one of the most underrated sequels and modern films of the last 20+years. As much as the OG Ghost in the Shell was amazing, I think Innocence is actually a better film. One of my favorite films.

So glad Serial Experiments Lain got added to your list. That serie is so underrated. I still count it amongst my top10 of best series I've even seen, which says a lot for me, considering I've been following anime for nearly 40years now.

Great video, I only have one complain, in the last of the list you gave the entire plot of Blame! I haven't seen it so it was kinda spoiled for me now, in the other entries of the list you made a very good balance to tell what's the series about without giving to much, so that we as an audience can discover new animes to watch.

They are not 'misunderstood'. It's an erroneous assumption based on a western cartoons like loony tunes, when even these were not originally made specifically 'for children'.
