It's a joke honestly, why would you pay £500k+ for a flat in london when you could get a 4-5 bedroom house with driveway, garage and garden for the same price or less elsewhere in the UK.

As long as people have kids, housing will become more expensive. We need a worldwide one-child policy. Wr can't have more people forever

I grew up living just outside London, so spent a lot of my young 20-30s working and spending time there. It was great fun, even dealing with the met! Now you couldn’t pay me to live there!

Why do some white Londoners have Jamaican accents? It's so sad.

The cladding in the building that made Grenfell go up in flames, still exists in so many blocks of flats. The government promised to address the issue but of course they lied

£500,000 for that poky, rundown house in Brixton?? That is crazy. I live in a similar size house that is only a few years old, £150,000 cheaper than that house, and mine is a stones throw away from Crantock & Fistral Beach.

Ha ha ha ha @Wandering Turnip really like your videos but your observation of the first house’s condition was a joke. You clearly have no building experience as it was a ruin and mainly beyond proper repair. Stripping it bare and leave the outside walls standing is the only way.

London here. Just inherited a (semi-detached) house (with garden) in Zone 3. Normally I wouldn't have considered London (I'm from Worcestershire) but in Zone 3 by Alexandra Palace it's actually really quiet and green. I know I'm super lucky.

Those prices are insane. In your mind you’d think a house that costs half a million would be a 6 bedroom mansion. When in London the reality is a half million pounds will get you
A three bed semi that needs doing up.
😳
A running theme I can see in London is horrid wallpaper and a hole in a ceiling somewhere.

Is this seriously a joke? In reference to the 500,000 pound home thats equivalent to 850,000 Canadian dollars... my raised ranch in Canada, 20 years old, 2200 square feet including the fully finished basement, sells for less then that, huge backyard as well.

Pretty pathetic

Wandering Turnip, I really love your segment that you do. I liked the last house for the size of the rooms, it’s a shame about the train in the back. Thank you so much. I’m from Essex, my mum and dad came from East End. I now live in Perth Australia. Thank you so much for you kindness. I really enjoy watching your other segments you do. Xx

My parents lived in a basement flat in Chelsea in about 1970. Apparently it looked like one of the places ypu go round back then. The woman who owned the house lived on the ground floor and tried to sell it to them for a decent price but they were young and didnt want to got bogged down. They came back up north and flats on that square are going for a couple of million now. Mad.

I'll add to your diversity quota, hahaha. Good luck trying yo talk to people, aint nobody got time for that.
We are settled in SE London, Lewisham with lots of newly erected high rises and very dear flats in the centre. I have lived in Brixton (favourite part of London) and also Stratford, Woolwich. Dont want to leave London at all. It is expensive for sure and I can see better salaried people unable to afford. However, I am not sure whether its becuase of price or choice of property people want. I also want the property I used to rent in but its not going to happen. The rents people are paying are astronomical mate, for a room! No bills included either! I do wonder what kind of jobs people do to be able to afford 1M properties.
We did think of going to other cities to live but London cannot be replicated. Transport links, jobs, activities and melting pot of people. I can access all areas of England and visit them, which we like. As I get back to the A2 and seeth about the Blackwall Tunnel traffic, I am also happy to be back. Its easy to move out of this city but not so much to return.
I had to subscribe to your channel mate. Very tempted to watch all of your vids but I have to revise.

i worked down london in 1999/2000, i roughed it & slept in my car, got washed anywhere i could find a sink, such as supermarket toilets etc , i ate in cafe,s or takeaway chippys & got a truckstop shower & meal, if i was not far from a truckstop, with what i saved, i bought a 2 bedroom terrace house up north for 6,500, which i done up myself fairly cheaply, to make it liveable, it is now worth about maybe 65, 000, but it means i can stay in a low paid job, which is 1,180 per month, but ok with not having to pay any rent or mortage

So Kirstie Allsop is right: If you can't afford to buy , go somewhere else and just get the house you want so you're on the property ladder. So sick of how that message is mocked when Kirstie Allsop says it, despite it being just... FACT.

The first house - 'a bit of work.' Is that English understatement? The house needs gutting! Sorry, but someone who doesn't know the difference between a roof and a ceiling isn't the best judge of how much work needs to be done.

I'm from New York, and the 40,000 USD house that my father sold 30 years ago for 75,000 is NOW worth 1million USD. And because it's in Queens not Manhattan. Queens is just a train ride away.

I guess greed is a worldwide problem 🤨🤨

Loving your channel! I used to own my own house in the North East but now I currently live and rent in a shared place in London. Not the best of moves. You're absolutely right, people are far more friendly up north. I'm currently paying £600pm which is very cheap these days for London. Looking to hopefully get a mortgage soon and move out of London. Even if I was loaded there'd be no way I'd pay London house prices. Makes no sense at all buying in London for what you get.

In 1989, I bought a grotty two-bed basement flat in Tooting Broadway for £80,000. I sold it in 2005 for £285,000. Grotty flat is now valued at between 445K and 544K. Ridiculous price for a dark, dingy tomb with a permanent damp problem.

London sounds like NYC with unreasonable prices. Some apartments in NYC are up to $10k a month. The Realestate bubble will burst one day. I live in Texas, two years ago we sold our house in Arlington for $279,000, we paid $105,000 in the 90’s. We bought a single wide and we live on 12 acres in the middle of nowhere with no mortgage. Love watching Realestate shows, laughable sticker shock.
If I had to pick, the last one would be ok. I love a challenge.
