This was an amazing, emotional documentary. Im glad i found and watched it. In my opinion, as Americans we can never afford to ever forget what these brave individuals went through. It was hell on earth. And the fact that many of them went thru and fought so valiantly, in spite of the fact that their morale was weaning and they were questioning " what for" from the very beginning. It's astonishing. Truly, an ode to what humans are capable of, in the face of severe adversaries. TY to every vet.

As a nation, America should be deeply ashamed of the way they treated the returning veterans. For a Country that has been well known to revere its military, it is an absolutely horrendous way to treat men who have served their Country.

The concept that you can destroy a country in order to save it has no logic at all.

This was the third war crime that the USA committed. First the two atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, then the war in Korea and a little later the war in Vietnam, which the Americans lost miserably despite their enormous superiority. Afghanistan, decades later, another miserable escape. The strongest army in the world is being defeated and driven out of the country by farmers in sandals and armed with an AK-47.

Even if you don't support the war always always support your soldiers blame your government of whatever.
I'm so glad to see the veterans from Vietnam getting the respect they always deserve these past year's and telling their stories.

Vietnam, Afghanistan and Iraq should have all been fought by the People whose Country they live in and if they can't or wont fight for their own Country, Then we should not help in the fighting.

The fall of Saigon is very reminiscent of something that happened just a few years ago. Hold a country for years turn it over to the pro-democracy and pull out. Then lose millions of dollars in equipment when the country fails to maintain the values that were fought for. You can't change a people who want to live bowing to a dictator. They have to be willing to fight for it. Welcome home Vets, you did what was ordered to do and there is no shame in it.

Who won the Vietnam war in the December of 1972 peace talk negotiations. In December 1972, during the peace negotiations in Paris, an agreement known as the Paris Peace Accords was reached. The parties involved were the United States, North Vietnam, South Vietnam, and the Provisional Revolutionary Government (PRG) of South Vietnam (also known as the Viet Cong). The Accords were signed on January 27, 1973. The key outcomes of the Paris Peace Accords were: Ceasefire: A ceasefire was declared in Vietnam, which effectively ended direct U.S. military involvement in the conflict. Withdrawal of U.S. Troops: The United States agreed to withdraw all remaining U.S. forces from Vietnam within 60 days of the signing of the agreement. Release of Prisoners: Both sides agreed to exchange prisoners of war. In terms of who "won" the war, the Paris Peace Accords did not declare a clear military victory for any side. Instead, they aimed to establish a political settlement and a ceasefire. However, the subsequent events after the Accords was when the North Vietnamese and the PRG reneged on their word resulting in the fall of Saigon in April 1975 and the reunification of Vietnam under communist rule, are often interpreted as a victory for North Vietnam and the Viet Cong. Therefore, while the Paris Peace Accords marked a negotiated settlement, the ultimate outcome of the war, particularly with the fall of South Vietnam to communist forces in 1975, is often viewed as a victory for North Vietnam and the Viet Cong against the South Vietnamese but not the USA.

Kind of ironic that as soon as the war finished up, the government punished citizens by giving them 150hp big block engines to replace the 450hp ones.

I had been in Vietnam for 2 years when my parents mailed me that the local draft board said I had to report for duty . Not only that but I had already served. 4 years in the AF and completed my 6 year obligation . I think the draft was limited at 25 years old and I was over 30 .I told told my parents to tell the draft board to come to Vietnam and get me . I had volunteered for Vietnam in 1965 .

It still sickens me even today how the troops were treated after coming home. There is no excuse what those worthless, cowardly, shameful, pathetic waste of space people, who stud out there and hurled insults and much more at those Brave country serving Troops coming home. Those pathetic individuals knew that most were drafted and had no choice because they didn’t want to be cowards like those individuals. I pray that one of those who did the insulting and spitting reads this comment and that they know, God will be just to their actions. I served this country not for the people inside of it but for my brothers in arms. To all who served this nation in VIETNAM, from the bottom of my heart to the very depths of it, THANK YOU for all you did no matter what role you played in it.

Although this is a fantastic doc' with some revealing insights, footage and testimonies it avoids one thing; South Vietnam was never a democracy. It was a succession of military coups and puppet governments supported by the French and then the U.S./CIA.
The North was shown and proven to be supported by the people, isn't that more 'democratic'? So many lives lost for a lie.
