This was an amazing video. My bf actually sat thru & cared about what happened to you in the end lol. But honestly this was really cool to watch. It's crazy how things change so quickly in life. RIP to haup ❤ I hope his brother is doing OK and that you get to see him again one day

They demanded 1,600.00 US dollars which is 26 million rupiahs. Thats not alot of money for all those people and help. So i dont understand the anger towards august. Is it because they finally learning value or selves and money when before could just gives some cigarettes and booze. You couldnt hire your own people to do all the tribe did for that little bit of money.

I don't know how I feel about this, especially after reading comments below. My emotions have gone wild. By giving them their demands, the demands become more and more every time. If you have what they demand and give it to them, then they don't remember the values they had. Which would be part of their culture and heritage. So right there things change and really not for the better. You're not selfish if you don't meet their demands. You're still actually trying to help them to keep what they always had. I think you did a beautiful job of making this film. I was glued to my chair. I have so many emotions right now I don't even know how to describe how I feel. But I know this for certain...when the government says we are here to help you....run the other way. If you don't you will lose everything. Your culture and heritage and your ways will be forever gone and forgotten. You will most certainly become dependent on the government for everything. EVERY THING. And they will demand things of you that you don't like. You will HAVE TO OBEY THEM. And you will no longer be free. FACTS!

this series was so honest, thank you for being so real. haup and halap are such sweet souls, my favorite bit was when halap was yelling at haup for being out in the storm so near to night. will's goodbye to haup and halap made me tear up. so much emotion that couldn't be conveyed because of cultural or language barriers condensed into a handshake. i felt this tug at my heart when haup said halap was out and will was like "i hope we see halap tomorrow otherwise.. at least i came by." like, my man will and the crew are out there trying to be as candid as possible in how they film.. and august is also organically demonstrating what getting a taste of "more" looks like in the midst of leaving a life of "just enough to get by" like haup and halap are doing in the jungle. idk. but it was precious to see haup's head pop up when they were worried when he hadn't gotten back and it was such a bittersweet moment when halap shows up on will's last day.. those men are precious. simply lovley. SO much culture and history is left only in haup now. i wonder if he's alive today. i hope so. and if both are gone, i hope their ride downstream was peaceful <3
