Perfect Bengali pronunciation, I know you worked in Calcutta earlier. I was not aware of Basanta cabin even though lived here for 32 yrs.

We had a most discourteous experience in much hyped Flurys! When we stepped in the gateman's curt greeting was: Restrooms are out of order! The manager was completely nonchalant. We walked out never to return to reliques of colonial India. The fastfood joint across the road was enjoyable. Kudos to Wow Momos.

Basnata Cabin & Coffee house had lost their charm long time ago giving in to stale & tasteless food! Flury's has retained its quality but very few can afford it & Nahoum's too is overhyped these days! For cakes it's better to leave central calcutta & move towards south kolkata. Plenty of good cakeshops at a reasonable price & for cutlets north still rules starting with Mitra Cafe.

I'm from Kolkata 💕 n i can tell u Kolkata itself a unique City it certainly call " City Of Joy" for its vivid reason East or West Kolkata is Best ...The cheapest Food n Transport in India ....Many legends born here from Freedom fighters to movie makers n Music industry I'm sure u Know their names , largest Eden Garden (Ex) largest football ground, largest stadium, oldest Museum,oldest turf n polo clubs ,first meto rail +underwater metro line only 🚊 tram line in india,The Howrah Bridge only cantilever in india etc it ll b endless ...

Basanta cabin now lost all its Aroma. You should have visited Mitra Cabin. The fish fry and kaviraji is legendary. Aur Ranveer aap coffee house aye, Bataya nahi 😋

Thanks for share....this are the iconic place of kolkata.....but there have some more.....In kolkata you found delicious Sindhri food, la jabab momos different types of veg food ( yes we have a huge veg options with out paneer,soya,mashroom) and yes none other than some mouth melting Biriany with famous aloo......

Cabin restaurants were also famous for young couples who loved to look into each other's eyes away from the inquisitive gaze of the masses, coz at that time going out with a boy/ girl before marriage was looked down.....cabins were also famous during the naxal movement, where major plannings were done by naxals....truly they are a heritage which kolkata walks into
