Kepler has aged extremely poorly. I would know as I have a 780 Ti. Probably C tier. Good choice for Maxwell at A tier. I have a Titan X and it’s still a beast even 8 years later. Fermi should be B tier IMO. I’ve owned two 460s over the years and the performance on them was pretty decent.

Even with the controversy, the 970 lasted me a good 9 years before developing any signs of failure. Finally upgrading this year, it was a real workhorse.

still using a strix 1070 in my sisters build but she will be getting my 3060 vision oc 12gb and i will be upgrading to a strix 4060 ti the 1070 did its job and its still a useable card for lower end gaming but its reached the point where new games are getting really graphics intensive that it no longer does the trick for the games my sister plays it had one hell of a lifespan tho btw--- im typing this on my sisters google account lololol

TSMC needs to be cut up into different companies. if that means 2 different companies using the same tech, then so be it. they hold a monopoly and its going to cause a fucking shit show if its not broken up.

My first PC what I build my self had GeForce 8600 back in 2007.
Then I upgraded to GeForce 280 (GTX 280) around 2009. Then around 2013 switched to GTX 780 Ti which I had very long time! (Only playing in 1080p)
During Covid-19 I wanted to upgrade but the prices sky rocked. Somehow I managed to get from my friends old GTX 1060 6GB (because I really needed DirectX 12)
Now in 2023 I would need to again upgrade. But this time, I might take another route. How about AMD RX 7900 XTX (Yes. Call me a traitor)

Used my GTX 1050ti until very recently.
Now got RTX3060ti and it's amazing! not worth getting into the 40-series for most, unless you're upgrading a 7-years old card.

Since the 3070 dropped down to 400 bucks it's an even BETTER deal, but as someone with a microATX motherboard i feel like I'll have to upgrade to the 4060ti instead. I just hope they drop that price within a few months

I agree with all of this, except a couple things on the 4000 series. While for the most part he's bang on.. I.. and maybe it's personally just my opinion but.. The RTX 4090 when you factor in DLSS 3 + Frame Generation is a serious game changer.. Being able to run games that just have nuts graphics like Darktide and being about to run arguable the best looking game this new gen @ every setting set to max and still achieve 144fps @ 4K resolution... is.. well it's just nuts.. So I think B tier like said in most cases but if the game you're playing supports RTX and DLSS 3 + FG .. I say easy S Tier. Like I run probably some of the most modded to gills next gen looking Skyrim mod lists ever.. modlist's that would melt a 3090ti(which I have as my secondary PC).. and only getting like solid 60fps on @ 4K.. On my RTX 4090 rig though.. I can run the same modlist with the DLSS + FG mod and get a solid 120fps.. like that just wasn't possible at all until the 4090. So again S Tier in my opinion. Same with Cyberpunk 2077 running at max settings. 4K with RTX on @ 120fps just isn't possible for anything less than a RTX 4090.. so again S Tier in that case. If you factor in frame generation.. what was a 40% boost becomes an 80-120% boost.. like kinda nuts. I know it adds some minor input lag.. but it's not as bad as people think. 120fps FG = 90ish fps in input latency. sooo not bad at all. Again my opinion. But i think important tech leaps like that should of been noted in this video. Also I have issue with the RTX3000 gen.. and my issue is that there were almost no difference in gaming performance between the RTX 3080ti, 3090 and 3090ti. That end of the tier difference were so minor it wasn't even funny.

I need to build a new comp...mine is 10+ yrs old, Gigabyte GA-B75M-D3H motherboard, Intel 3770k processor, 32gb ddr3 1600 and GTX 650Ti 1gb vram unlocked (came with assassin's creed 3), up till the new games recently (2021/22+), I haven't had an issue with it, now I won't even buy them because they are incompatible. I haven't looked at components in years and have no where to start and no budget in mind except for being future proof another 10+ yrs. I am not partial to amd or intel regarding cpus and not partial to Amd or Nvidia regarding gpus. I built comps/nets back in the win95/98/net4.0 era and my current comp was the last i built. When Windows 11 and Star Wars: Jedi survivor came out and was incompatible with my hardware more than my gpu, i knew i needed to build a new comp.

I'm still running two 1080Tis here in 2023, and after seeing how badly everything went for prices and value adds and everything else that's been going on in the world since 2018, I have to say I still feel like I made the right decision. Why two? VR is the last holdout of SLI as far as anybody is concerned, and I'm still stubbornly holding onto those dreams as stubbornly as I hold onto my Vive controllers. Plus, turn off SLI and they are beastly for Folding@Home. Because I'm one of those nerds and proud of it.

The last time I bought a graphics card, the GTX Titan was like the big boy, but I waited a little and picked up an R9 290 for like a third of the price and had very similar performance. I still have that R9 in my PC with my sweet old Phenom II X4 965 BE CPU (yeah....probably time for a new PC, but it still does everything I need, except for editing, but I got a top spec Surface Pro for that and it works great).

I don't remember what I had when I was in high school in the early/mid 2000s. It was nothing crazy, but it played Doom 3, Half-Life 2, CS 1.6, and CS:Source really well, so I was happy.

The first time I ever heard about graphics card or when my friends dad upgraded their computers old voodoo graphics card to whatever one of the newest geforce graphics cards was at the time in like 99-2000 to play Half-Life better. I was playing half life on my potato computer at home in software mode and saw that huge difference and was blown away.

I love my 3070 ti. I don’t love that I had to get on EVGA’s waitlist to get it (7 months!) just so I could pay $750 for it. But it’s been a solid card, handled AC Valhalla like a champ. I’m praying card prices come down. 1080 ti was an awesome card.

Can't wait till I get my hands on the RTX 3090, but once I do I'll also have to get a DDR5 Z790 192gb RAM capable MSI Mobo, 7200mhz 128 to 192gb DDR5 Vengeance RAM, 12th or 13th gen i9 CPU or Threadripper with a compatible board, a Seasonic VERTEX GX-1200w PSU, a top tier Noctua CPU cooler, more RGB fanage for cooling and a state of the art ATX case to yank it all in.

So, what did you guys use throughout your careers?
My graphics cards had been:
1. ATI Rage Pro 4MB
2. ATI Rage Pro 4MB + Diamond Monster 3D (VooDoo 2, 12MB Accelerator)
3. nvidia GeForce 2MX
4. nvidia GeForce FX5200 (For a very short time, because the 2MX had died and the generation was not worth putting more money into it)
5. 3Dfx VooDoo5 5500 (Used one, but for the more old-school games I played it was a beast and the video quality was just better than anything the other brands offered by that time
6. nvidia GeForce 8800 GTX (Because it was the god of GPUs of this age and future-proofed me for years to come)
7. AMD/ATI Radeon HD 7970 (Because it was an amazing card)
8. nvidia GeForce GTX 980TI (Running it until today as it is still very capable with a monitor that is 1440p. Outstanding card for its time, but I'm slowly but surely looking into something new)

Let me see what your careers have been, I mean we are talking roughly 30 years, making these 8 cards not very excessive in my eyes.

I built a dual 7800GTX SLI rig last year, matching them up with a Core 2 Extreme. It is hot, noisy and pretty sus but it ran Crysis at 720p reasonably well. But I prefer to use the 7800 GTX in single card form for XP gaming where it totally kicks ass. Pair it with a P4 519K and you'll have a nice little space heater, in addition to a nice, period correct mid-00s gaming machine.

I have huge nostalgia with the 600 series. It was the first time I started building PCs for people and I used the 760/660/ti for a lot of my friends. And a few Radeon 7000 cards. Though the peak of GPUs, for many is the 1000 series. My 1070 still going strong bought brand new the month it released. Would love to upgrade if prices weren't insane.
