Beta64 - Yoshi's Story / Yoshi's Island 64

No hate to Yoshi’s Story, but honestly Yoshi’s Island 64 looks like it would’ve been a better game.

I got this game when it came out. It was a pretty good game and played it for many months.

The first time I played this game, I rented the Japanese version from this rad local game shop. I think it needed a little adapter to make my US 64 play it. Yoshi's Island was one of my favorite games of all time. I was very disappointed in Yoshi's Story lol. What, you just eat fruit and the level ends? What is this, Pac Man? I guess that was the super-easy version, too. I eventually got the game years later and played it thoroughly, but I remember being almost in tears over the sequel to one of my favorite games coming out so different.

Memories of Super Mario RPG 2 turning into Paper Mario come flooding back now...

Yoshi's story was such a scam for those who saw the beta version in the 96 promo video and who thougth they where buying a beautiful yoshi's island sequel . Instead they had a bizarro version when you must collect fruits and wich should have been called Yoshi's downgrade .
What the fuck happended ?This is worst than doing shit , this is transforming gold into shit . Nintendo invented rickroll first .

I still remember playing that game every day when I was like 7 - 9, god what a fever dream.

If the game was more difficult and longer I think they could have made it a proper sequel.

The beta footage looks amazing. There must have been performance issues for them to change it.

That mountain of Yoshi sticking out his arms in the tech demo of Yoshi's Story for GBA reminds me so much of Donkey Kong's head for DK Isles in DK 64 and also King K Rool's head for King K Rool's Island also in DK 64.

This game could've easily fit on a 12 megabyte cartridge. It only took up 8.1 megabyts of data.

This game was so pointless ... Why would anybody buy a half-assed Yoshi's Island? This looks like an SNES game, but isn't nearly as good as part 1.

I loved this game when I was little it was so good, I went looking for it and I went to a pawn shop in KC and they were selling the cartridge for almost $100. Is the game rare or something?

Kinda weird that they didn’t decide to re-record Kazumi’s Yoshi VA soundbites until 2010.
I guess they liked using the original 90’s recordings and didn’t wanna have to re record for each game.

It's a good game but very short. 6 levels only and only 5 bosses?! At least 10 levels would have been great! It failed to the expection of ISLAND

the day yoshi got a voice was the day yoshi died for me... god i hate the voice they gave yoshi. super mario world 2 yoshi's island on snes one of my fave games of all time.

Now I'm disappointed Nintendo never went forward with Yoshi's Story GBA port but instead just used it as to showcase GBA.

Yoshi's Story can be very casual and chill but if you're going for 30 melons it can be extremely difficult on certain levels.

This game had the potential to be just as amazing as yoshi island.... But it ended up flopping =(
