Even at age 53, dealing with terminal cancer and feeling pretty crappy most days, I still wear my pearl necklace every day, put on my lipstick and now wear a chic wig. It really does make me feel better and gives a confidence and even hope. It's always fun to dress up a little. I'm so glad I can have fun with makeup and now wigs! Love your glow, inside and out :)

Thank you for the lovely video. I’m 72 and never felt the need to wear makeup until recently. It seems all of a sudden I have a face full of lines and it’s especially noticeable in a certain way the light hits my face. Any way I really don’t know where to begin with makeup. Im looking for just a few natural cosmetics to hide some lines and brighten my complexion. Any suggestions or a complete novice ?

An 95 year old model named Daphne Selfe has never had a facelift, Botox, fillers, nothing, she doesn’t believe in them. I’ve seen many of her un retouched or no filter real pictures of her face with age & beautiful life lines & she’s so beautiful & glamorous because of being real. I’ve loved eye smile lines aka crows feet, since I was a little girl. When I saw women who had them, I knew they were very wise & thought so glamorous. I couldn’t wait till I could have them one day & hopefully be as wise 😊

I was brought up by a very traditional mother. I was baking and ironing by age 10.

My mother wanted to be a sewing teacher, but her father died young, and there were younger siblings, so she never got that chance.

My mother never told me how to be or how to think. All I wanted to do was raise a family.

I am 70. We raised one child; we are very involved with our grandchildren. Totally by accident I became an activist for the DES exposed. I had a second career as a nurse.

I managed our home and finances. Still do. I never felt less than equal. We might have been brought up in a different time, but we had every opportunity. We were free to choose. And we are responsible for those choices, and the ramifications.

Great segment, as always. Please be aware that even though we have the right to vote, the Equal Rights Amendment has been ratified by enough
US states but never has been passed into law. The current Congress will not put the ERA into law, remember that when we vote. Our Constitution only guarantees equal rights for men, not women.

My Mother (born in 1923) told me that WWII did more for women and their rights than in the 1920’s because all the men went off to war and Women had to step into their shoes and take over the breadwinning and the finances and all the other things men had done like the jobs, the industries and did not think women could do. But they did it!! And then women realized that they suddenly had extra money to use and didn’t have to rely on a man to support her and her children. To just dole out what he wanted her to have. That she was just as capable as the men. But.. It didn’t take away the feminism of women. She said it made them more independent and attractive because suddenly they had self worth. They had self-pride. They understood more of the world.
I come from a long line of strong independent women. I am proud of that and pass it on to my daughters and granddaughters. I think a smart woman, an independent woman desires to look just as beautiful as any other woman. But.. I fear they are doing their best to rein us in and erase us all together.

I was watching one of your older videos. The one about the paintings and the lady that happily married over 70 years, wanted to tell you a little story about my daughter, when she was 5 she could draw birds. I bought her a little paint kit and she would watch that artist on Tv and copy what he drew. She ended becoming a wonderful artist and a High School art teacher.

I’m a strong woman also, and had to fight those comments to be quiet, stop knowing what to do,stop, having the answer.. it hurt me but my dad helped me be strong and independent but it doesn’t mean I don’t want a man to take care of me! I want all good things! Thanks for addressing this!

My Mom was using Rosehip Oil, castor oil and rose water on her face as far back as I can remember. She was a skiier, a curler, a golfer and loved her bridge games up until about 3 years before her death. She passed away at 86 beautiful as ever. She was a sheek woman and she taught her daughter (me) many tips I have been using these oils since I was in my 20;s and I am 67 now. I believe through all the decades woman who cared looked after their skin and used what they knew to be the best at the time. I know that I was always interested in skincare since early teens. So I don't believe that it is just the women today. I had many older woman in my family and outside of my famiily that I watched and learned from. I always knew less was more...didn't always follow that in the '80s...but who really did:) Self care makes you confident which makes you beautiful and a red lip defnitely never hurt. Women have definitely fought hard for our rights but what is happening today our rights are being taken away slowly but surely if we don't stay strong. It took forever to get where we are today and it takes a minute for others to take it away...it is already starting.

Susan, I think this is one of your best videos yet!! Women have come a long way. I graduated high school in 1974 and wanted desperately to go to college but was told no by my parents. I couldn’t go because I was a girl. I worked as a secretary for years going to college at night. Married my second husband had 2 boys and went to school to become a nurse. That marriage ended but I kept going raising the kids and obtaining my BSN and at 55 my MSN/Nurse Practitioner. I rented an apartment for 15 years while I raised my boys and worked at a nearby hospital. My sons’ dad died while they were teenagers. At 60 I bought a townhouse. I am now 67 still working night shift as a Hospitalist NP, in decent shape, go to the gym, swim, need a knee replacement. My boys are grown but one left and moved back so they are both here. It wasn’t easy but I did it and I did it by myself. I have no student loans. I have a paid off Nissan Rogue and am paying down some credit card debt. I am going to my 50th high school reunion from a Catholic girls school in June. Life is good. Not always easy but it is good. ❤

I have studied Psychology and advertising and I was taught that there is no miracle cream that will improve our skin. E45 or any other ellioment cream is just as effective. All we need is hydration and healthy oils to feed our skin. Most importantly, is the foods that we eat..what nourishes us on the inside will show on the outside. It is all down to nourishment

I too am 69. Not all of us are happy to see the death of chivalry. As a lifelong suffer of fibromyalgia and bouts with breast cancer, and more, working and career was not my stong suit. I am extremely blessed to have a healthy working husband who is also kind and caring toward me. We take care of each other, and i keep him healthy with my nursing knowledge. I have had thirteen surgeries in my life and two children and somehow scraped through the single years. But I am so glad there are still men who
want to love and take care of a woman. No matter how I feel, I get up every day and do my skin care, put on my makeup and get dressed, For me, but for him too. Men and women are supposed to love and support one another... At least that's the way God planned it. Too bad things go wrong 😢.

I love that Pink princess, my phone is full of Pictures of plants, from alligator Fern to orchids, amaryllis, pathos but there's many that I don't have because they're so pricey. I'm a plant hobbyist at Heart. I'm just not understanding why the hefty prices? I walk around at Home Depot and Lowe's, and see so many plants piled up on carts getting ready to go to the dump before lowering the price on them. Even Target has exotic plants that are almost dead but they won't adjust the price on them because they claim that they belong to an outside vendor. I hope that you're able to propagate that pink princess and put it throughout your entire beautiful house. Thank you for your wise words. Wishing you and all a very blessed week ahead.❤

Great video Susan. The crap that woman have had to put up with and still have to put up with is sad. When I started dating again after my divorce, a male friend told me my strong (aka independent, confident) personality was intimidating to a lot of men and that was why I was having trouble finding a relationship. I should tone it down. I told him that I wasn't interested in any man that I had to be less than around to make HIM feel comfortable, confident and secure in his masculinity. I wasn't looking for someone who needed to feel superior. I was looking for someone who appreciated the strong, independent, confident woman I am. And I found him.

I also think the Suffragettes were very brave. Learning that many women got beat up for wanting the right to vote is horrible. I remember my mother never getting a credit card or having any credit history because they would not give women a credit card without a man' signature back in the day. As soon as I could, I got myself a credit card and started developing a credit history for myself. My mother also never learned to drive, I got myself my learners permit at 15 and a half and got my license at 16. I was never going to be dependent on anyone, let alone a man. In the time of the railroad building era men thought that going 55 miles per hour would somehow allow a women's uterus to come shooting out of her at that speed, and even the Boston Marathon, right here where I live, men would not allow women to run until 1972 because they thought that if women ran, that stuff would fall out of their bodies. Just what stuff was going to fall out of us. Good grief! Can you imagine the stupid things men thought. I do not know why we let them be in a position of leadership, they seem stupid to me. Yesterday I went to my niece's daughter's First Holy Communion. It is nice to see that generation coming of age where they can do just about anything they want. Title 9 is giving them such a fighting chance to be all that thy can be. My grandniece is so talented, she is good at soccer, dancing and pitching a softball. Not too sure if she was born 100 years ago, she would have all these opportunities. I am enjoying watching all my grandnieces doing their thing.
