I was into drugs,life in shambles and I had the Seventh Day Adventist reach out and help me termendously.I had lost my driver's license many years before in Detroit.A man from this church took me in on his farm and over the course of months help me regain my health,even going so far as to take me to Detroit and stand before a judge and regain my driving privileges,this alone changed the trajectory of my life.I will never throw the Adventists to the wolves as is currently happening today by many,including this podcast.

I'm not an SDA, I'm an atheist. But one thing good about the SDAs is their nutritional ideas. They definitely advocate the vegetarian diet and sing the praises of nuts and beans, but all whole foods and plants are on their to-eat list.. There have been large scientific studies on this SDA "cohort" thanks to their good recordkeeping and the size of their population. Even within the SDA church there is great variation with some SDAs eating "omnivorous" (no special diet), semi-vegetarian, vegetarian, and semi-vegan, and vegan diets. This allows scientific studies to examine the effect of nutrition on the relative health within these groups of the SDA cohort. The biggest study showed superior health outcomes as you moved from the omnivorous group towards the vegan group. Cardiovascular disease and diabetes were reduced, longevity increased. Loma Linda, CA, is the home of 9,000 SDAs and it is the only "blue zone" (area with high longevity) in the USA. There are only five blue zones in the world. SDAs from Loma Linda live on average 10 years longer than the average for the rest of us.

How could a loving god be more concerned with eating pork and shrimp than he was about humans owning other humans as property? How could she be right in the middle of the westward movement, manifest destiny, and not recognize that our natives were stripped of all rights, had all their means of survival killed, teach them that their culture was heathen and evil, and that these brown skinned children of god deserved to be cooped up on reservations. That WAS NOT JUST politics, but humanity….gods creation just the same as whites. I will never be convinced that she received ANYTHING from god….just like TV preachers of today. As an expert on Millerite history, the characterisation of how Miller came to understand the 2300 days is flawed. Also, we need to realise that Jehovah's Witnesses really have nothing to do with a discussion on Seventh-day Adventists. It is true that both inherit certain aspects of their understanding from Miller, though Seventh-day Adventists accept Miller's understanding, while Jehovah's witnesses do not.

First, Miller began his study of the Bible in 1816 and completed his initial study two years later in 1818, coming to the conclusion that the prophetic periods of Scripture pointed to Christ's coming in about 25 years time. The first prophetic period he found that came to that date was an application of the seven times of Leviticus 26. He later came to see the 2300 days of Daniel 8:13 and the 1335 of Daniel 12:!2 as as also ending in the year 1843. The year day principle was not invented by Miller but had been used by Protestant commentators for hundreds of years. Even Isaac Newton used this principle. Associating this with JW's is simply muddying the water. Daniel 8:14 being understand as years is not a reinterpretation. It is how it had been understood. What was missing prior to Miller was a way to determine the starting point. Miller's study allowed him to recognise that the 70 weeks of Daniel 9 (a period of 490 years) and the 2300 days of Daniel 8 had the same starting point.

Adventism is being shaken using its own doctrines. The shaking is becoming so intense because SDA is unable to place their key doctrines in the Bible. Besides, prophetess EGW made so many unbiblical claims that she were given to her by God in visions. The SDA doctrines, especially the doctrines of investigative judgment and cleansing of the sanctuary, cannot be biblically established
