I wasn't fully using this one correctly. You can download an additional app and link it to your GitHub repository, and it does a much better job of understanding the repo. I'm not sure why the UX doesn't prompt you to do this from the start, but it does fix some of the problems in the video such as over-indexing on node modules. However with all that said, I honestly still wasn't able to get it to perform many tasks that were particularly useful, and the larger the repo I gave it, the less reliable the responses seemed to become. It could definitely be worth a shot in your projects to see if it is useful to you though! 😃

For more complicated functions you need more detailed prompts. At the end of the day, it just saves you some typing time given enough context.

A key difference between bard and chatgpt is bard is a better teacher. Chatgpts info is a touch better but it struggles to help u learn using hints and guiding and usually gives the full answer to you no matter have many times u tell it not too. Bard is really good with giving hints and directions and will listen to u if you tell it not to provide snippets.

No Jetbrains AI? Weak.

I can confirm that Copilot is absolutely worth it for real life production code. It might not always come up with the best solutions specially for more custom/complex problems, but that's what you're being paid for as a developer. It's great as a smart autocompletion tool too.

But something amazing about Copilot (idk about the others as I haven't tried them) is how well it understands context. It uses your own code as a reference to write new code and is quite aware of the context where you're trying to put code.

I'm specially surprised when, from time to time, I plan to write a complex piece of code and it knows exactly what I was going to do. It saves a lot of time.

For an actual fair comparison I think all of these features would have to be tested on the other tools, with real life projects. As entertaining as the video is, it doesn't help much to know how good they are at writing a factorial function.

I wonder if one issue with the jsdoc comments there is your editor automatically inserting " * " for new lines; might confuse them (not that it should, but clearing that line I guess their suggestions would be more reasonable).

the BIGGEST coding challenge that you didn't do and compare is... how well these ai's know how to implement api's and libraries. chatgpt can generate opengl code of a simple hello world on command, does any other assistant ai do that?

How do you enable Code Whisperer autocompletion in VS code?

The day when I will be able to open Firefox repository or LibreOffice repository in my editor and having an AI assistant explaining and helping me learn about the repo, which saves me months of reading and looking. I'll say that AI assistant a thing. Right now, they just copy and paste code. I'm hoping for the big thing in the near future.🙏

I use Bing AI with high precision mode and the code it generates is really good, I must say much better than chat gpt itself although it is from gpt. The problem is it can only handle 30 conversations per chat. It also remembers previous topics better than Chat GPT.

I use the same ones you are using except the documenting one (probably will at some point).

On rare occassions, I go with Bard.

I had an interesting case where ChatGPT and Bard disagreed both with Copilot about efficiency of a JS loop. Copilot was going with a more readable code and claimed it is also more efficient, but after running tests, I found out it is about %5 less efficient and personally did not find it readable.

well as a college student, chatgpt is the only reason as to why i can make android app in 2 nights and make website manually with html css java php no framework in 1 week :v for learning case, chatgpt is superior because it is not a pure code but there are sometimes explanation.
