The Tree, the Fruit, and the Building | Rick Anderson | 2024

What a boss. This was a great message we all need to hear.

I have been one of those who felt ashamed, saying "is that all there is" and walked off and was lost in the dark miasma of the world. I am ever so lucky that God's mercy saw fit to send missionaries and the Holy Ghost to strike me like lightning to get me to awaken unto Christ and his atonement. I am ever so grateful now to keep my sacred covenants, specially to have the name of Christ written upon my heart and to keep my God's commandments. We must be valiant in standing with Christ at the cost of the world.

Love this presentation on several levels: (1) the Book of Mormon is divine scripture, (2) the heavens are not closed, (3) condemn the things of God at your own peril, (4) none are excluded from His atoning reach/none are cast off forever.

Reminds me of a quote from Joseph Smith: “…does it remain for a people who never had faith enough to call down one scrap of revelation from heaven…to say how much God has spoken…and not spoken…”

The Restoration is simultaneously simple, and complex; It is miraculous, it is marvelous, it is true. It’s up to us imperfect, faithful saints to live it as true disciples.

Becoming the BYU it is destined to be is contingent upon our collective rejection of the mocking of the world--a world who lacks eternal perspective and cannot see afar off--and embracing wholeheartedly the Savior and His restored church. May we all--all members of the Church who have or have not attended BYU--be fully converted to the restored gospel of Jesus Christ and stand for and with BYU in its divine mission. Let's become who we need to become and teach who we are. And may we never--even in the smallest ways--sell our spiritual birthrights for a mess of temporal pottage (the gain and glory of the world). Thank you for being clear, concise, and bold!
