His French last name suggests he was Huguenot (possibly even originally Spanish/Portuguese Jewish - from Rivera , who fled to ports with populations of Huguenots and intermixed as they were both outcasts to the same ports/areas in France). Silversmithing is a major trade of both cultures (and medicine/Doctors/Dentist is for Jews in England/Colonial times)., Huguenots, though, French Protestants were granted land and asylum in certain parts of the British Isles and Colonies by the English. Many went to South Carolina because they were still a separatist religion and not "Church of England". The Riviere family would have had to be in the artisan class in the Mass. Colony because they were not landed English Gentry -( i.e Freemasons). Revere had to wait outside to hear the news from the higher-ups because he was not one of them. He was part of America's first middle class. Not some "slave owning, Founding Father, White Guy" many like to paint all who were part of the Revolution with a wide brush.

About 20 years ago, the newspaper reported that the utility company was digging downtown in my large city and found a lot of interesting very old items in the area of the old outhouse on the property. It turned out that the property had belonged to my great-great grandparents in the mid-to-late 1800's, so it was their garbage that had been found!! It was so exciting to see things in the newspaper photos that had belonged to my ancestors that were gone long before I arrived on the scene! Those that dug up the items had made assumptions (like your video said) about the social status of the homeowners from the oyster shells, the broken flow blue china, medicine bottles, etc. but did not know who they belonged to originally. I was able to give them the name of the previous homeowners, the fact that they had been affluent, and that the home had been the first two-story home in the city when it was built. The items were all taken to a nearby University to be cataloged and displayed. And, the people at the University were very happy to hear that my ancestors had been the in-laws of a famous local architect that the University already had a huge display about.
