Honestly Maine would be a great place to live for us Mainers if people didn't come here and try to change everything and try to push us around and drive are cost of living up. There's been lots of greedy people coming up here changing it for them. It's time us Mainers don't be so nice anymore and take back our state so we can have more generations of us to enjoy it instead of getting run out by out of staters.

A family member just purchased his first house in Brownville, Maine from Westchester County, NY although he did a stint in the army at Fort Drum in upstate NY. It is now January and 16 degrees there. I wish him the best but I need to be around people, nature, Starbucks and that small town New England feel in Ridgefield, CT.

Maine looks amazing. I plan on visiting Maine and Vermont during fall. I'm from San Diego and i just want to see something different.

I am a lifelong Mainer. Like every place, it has its pros and cons. Politics play a big part in Maine. There's a lot of Democrats in Maine mostly in the big cities and they're voting Maine into a shithole. Wages are low and jobs can be hard to find while other jobs are easy to find. It depends on what you do for work. Cost of Living is supposedly lower but we also get a lot more taxes than other states. Mainers pretty much get taxed on everything so it does seem like cost of living is becoming higher. If you love the Outdoors and you enjoy Hunting, Fishing, etc then Maine is a great place.

IMO, Maine is beautiful for summer living, then transfer to Florida after Columbus Day. If you can’t afford those options stay where you are.

the one city with any potential or economic vitality (IE the only city with any future) is full of nimbyism making development ridiculously difficult, the fact that it is already the oldest most rural state means there just is very little economic future for anything significant.
