The Collar Drag is by and large my favorite takedown. Not only is it fast but it puts me right into headquarters where I start guard passing right away. As you get better and go against better people though the collar drag can sometimes become telegraphed. As a result you have to find ways to mask your collar drag to make it more effective and one way to do that is to mask it with a fake guard pull. The fake guard pull is one of the moves I enjoy going for because not only does itr confuse my opponent by leading to other takedowns (the ankle pick) but is also puts me at the right elevation to go for the collar drag takedown and masks the approach of the takedown catching my opponent by surprise.

I've been a Brown Belt since 2022 and also moved back to Missouri to continue my training. I will be brining Rolling/Sparring Video Breakdowns to the channel on a regular basis so stay tuned for more! I'm always looking to improve and what better way to do that than to post my rolls on the internet for people to watch and dissect. What could go wrong? lol

So in this video I show how to set up the fake guard pull to collar drag and talk about the mechanics behind the collar drag so you can get better at not only setting it up but also completing the technique.
