Why Is Tekken Tag 2 Disliked?

TTT2 was my first Tekken I tried to take serious, and it was so insanely daunting it was exhausting trying to learn the game from scratch. The huge roster and the amount of legacy stuff you needed to know, the execution, everything. I do think the game is quite fascinating, it has to be the most complex fighting game of all time, it truly is limitless in it's potential.

My absolute favorite Tekken of all time.

Tag 2 was so much better than T7.

from my experience EVERYBODY loves TTT2 its just the "everybody" we are talking about is a very low player count compared to any other tekken games

Younghachi had the most ridiculous hair in the entire series

Coming back to this video, the first thing mentioned is that 50 characters is overcrowded, while Tekken 7 ended up with 51. I imagine Tekken 8 will also reach that number.

It had all the fan service, but none of the balancing.
The game failed for a reason.

The only thing I hated was Online sold separately for $10 and being complete ass for the price.
But I feel you with the risk/reward.

I think what I'm wondering is, why am I GOOD at Tag 2 but I suck at 7??

If they did what they did for a new tag or even adding tag as a mode and keeping how they made the customization in the game that Tekken would be insane. I hear that overcrowded. A lot of characters not complaining. Being the first one I was able to really get into and understand it was fun. I hope Tiger Jackson returns. I hear you tho capo tag lol. I thought It was just fun. I love the game 😊

It is hated by scrubs. But honestly, as a legacy player that came in 4 years late to Tekken 7, Tekken 7 was harder to learn and had way more bs to deal with. Tag 2 was just learning how and when to Tag compared to Tekken 6. 7, rage is a game changer. You poke your way to 95% victory then one low parry is half life. One rage art and half life, now you're even. Its just that Tekken 7 released characters in increments idk if thats the right word, and it wasnt so overwhelming for scrubs. But 7 definitely has more bs.

Casuals will be fine since those combos wont show in casual game :D

Well thank you now I understand why Tekken 7 have so minimal features and not look amazing in graphics for a latest installment. They are dying bcs of how TT2 flops.

I recently play TT2 with rpcs3, and yes:

- The game isnt beginner friendly. So casuals can have hard time against more seasoned player or who already have 2 main. They will get confused when switching character and not know whst to do 1st.
- Too many clones, you can put 2 law, eddie/christie as 2 capo, Asuka/Jun as 2 kazama, King/armKing as 2 king. And so on. Unfair i think even if they slightly different
- The tag switching look so chaotic and sometimes its hard to see whats happening. You can even see in this video. And no satisfying juggle punishnor counter as we see in normal tekken. And theres time up without many things happen lmao. The pacing is everywhere and also not satisfying to watch.

But TT2 have good customizations, complete singleplayer/offline experiences, more uniques stages, and a lot of char nostalgia despite it was clones. But yes casuals may not like this game and defimitely tanked the selling. Thank god tekken 7 saved it. I hoped tekken 8 return all this lost features since it look amazing
