One word: rocket Knight adventures
ОтветитьSports was NHL 94 for me.
ОтветитьPirates Gold was my favorite open adventure game.
ОтветитьIt was either that or Aladdin tbh
ОтветитьI always thought Cyber Ball was the best sports football game for it , Ghouls and Ghosts would have to be the perfect game for it imop better then Ghost and Goblins for the Super Nintendo much better controls and bosses ,also harder .
Ответитьshocked to not see kid chameleon on any list.
Ответитьcenty over landstalker? get real mate..
ОтветитьNot Genesis-related, but if you’re ever curious about hearing some more great FM synth soundtracks then check out Williams’ System 80b series of pinball machine.
ОтветитьI really enjoy your show!! Look forward to your new episodes!
ОтветитьRanger X is the best, most underrated game on Sega
ОтветитьI know it's been memed to hell, but Zero Wing is my favorite shoot-em-up for the system. It's soundtrack and weapons system are just too good to overlook.
ОтветитьInstead of questioning any of your choices, I'll just say I'm glad you left out overrated games that are often mentioned in "best of" lists of the platform mostly because of historical reasons than anything else, especially considering the vast amount of greatness the console had to offer.
ОтветитьI remember playing this as a kid, but after 4 or 5 years the top just blew up,or I do not know if it was my own fault, and the only thing that was left is the cartridge slot and the two controller slots, the AC adapter also blew up and we, that is, my mom and I, had to go to an electronics store to buy a new one, but sooner rather than later that one also blew up and we had to repeat that process over and over again until the console just gave up on us
ОтветитьStreets of rage 2!!!
ОтветитьHow in the hell is MK3 better than UMK3? By what criteria? Or by what criteria is Comix zone better looking than Gargoyles or Pocahontas?
ОтветитьWould you ever do one of these for the 3DO? I know you did a top 10 games for it already. I owned a 3DO, saved up and worked to buy one when I was in Junior High! Such Nostalgia!
ОтветитьSad, I didn't see Dynamite Headdy or Rocket Knight Adventures on this list. But like you said, there are so many great games on Genesis that I can't disagree with any of the ones on this list they are all great.
ОтветитьNHL 94 is arguably the greatest hockey game of any console past or present. They still have organized tournaments around the country to this day
ОтветитьDisagree only with best music, the original SOR, for me, is the best. Great list.
Ответитьwow! i "checked out" all of the games on this list lol
Ответитьgreat list, mate .cant really argue those picks
ОтветитьFor myself best Beat'em all game is Adventures of Batman and Robin and OST's such a great.
ОтветитьSorry buddy. Sega can't hold a candle to SNES sound-wise.
ОтветитьBorn in 69' my favorite cartridge console was always Atari vcs which I got for Christmas in 77' until Colecovision came out using 82'also I was a big C64 kid had a complete setup 1702 printer modem dual 1541 floppy drives. But the Sega Genesis came un 89' 2 yrs before my son was born in 91' I was 22'byxthebtime he was 5 in 96' he was playing as much as I still was I think the genesis had some of the most memorable games especially for me just exiting my teen years.
ОтветитьSega Genesis is still my favorite Console of all time! With Game Gear, PS2 and Nintendo Switch as well
Ответитьcertainly agree with many choices. Several gems on the genesis come to mind: Robocop vs Terminator, Alien 3 (the music and sound is incredible), Cool Spot (the 7UP Game) - Graphics and sound and gameplay are heaven - The SNES version is badass too), Sonic and Knuckles, Mercs (The original Mode is where the game really shines), Castle of Illusion starring Mickey Mouse...Quack shot starring Donald Duck (these are great games), Aladdin (Genesis - is an eye and eargasm from start to finish), Super Street Fighter 2 is pretty good, Terminator 2 Arcade game is visually inferior to the arcade...and has inferior sounds, but the music is better, Also love the Menacer Scope - 6 game collection including Toe Jam and Earl......
ОтветитьI had Genesis AtGames Version for my 13th Birthday Present since December 10 2013 my all-time favorite Genesis Games was Sonic the Hedgehog Trilogy, Outrun, E-Swat, Ristar, Golden Axe 1 and 2, Vectorman 2, Streets of Rage, Columns, Crack Down, Virtual Fighter 2, Ecco Jr., Shinobi 3, Flicky, Ghouls n Ghosts and my number 1 All-Time Favorite Genesis Game Shadow Dancer.
ОтветитьVery much worth your time ❤ only a true gamer would say this 🥰
ОтветитьOk… why does no one have these games listed - Toejam and earl 2 - kid chameleon - F-22 - Desert strike - golden axe 2 - altered beast - labyrinth
So many great games never listed lol
Aerosmith vs aliens.
ОтветитьOutrun not being the best driving game? Are you smoking crack?
ОтветитьFor me Sonic 2 as good as it is and this will be an unpopular opinion but I think Sonic 2 is extremely overrated, so yeah I’m in the camp that feels that Sonic 3 and Knuckles is the best in the series because it has hardly any flaws and is technically the most impressive of the original 16 bit Sonic games on a graphical level and the music is some of the best I’ve heard in a Sonic game on the system which is inspired by Michael Jackson snd even uses samples from his music while scratchy as hell, but it adds to its overall charm.
ОтветитьEverything was spot on except for beat ‘em up you should have done an honorable mention for altered beast.
ОтветитьGeneral Chaos always gets left off these lists as it doesn't belong in any one genre. Easily one of best Genesis games that everyone forgets.
ОтветитьI prefer the classic originals more than the sequels. NBA JAM most definitely should have made this list.
ОтветитьShining Force 2.. whoo hoo!
ОтветитьThat damn mirror image room in Bloodlines- never beat it until I used an online port that let me state save
ОтветитьNobody talk about the incredible : dynamite HEADY ! and thanks for this vidéo !
ОтветитьI'm sorry I missed Comix Zone, and all of these late-season releases. By 1995, I had moved on to other consoles.
ОтветитьWhat’s the game after desert strike? I cannot for the life of me get a clear picture of the title
ОтветитьExtremely weird list. Like very extremely weird.
Sports - rock n roll racing if we include racing in this category otherwise - mutant league hockey.
Rpg - beyong oasis which also doubles as the best Sega game overall.
Best music - rock n roll racing, if we count in commentator as part of the music. Otherwise hard call, because a lot of strong contenders.
Best graphics - beyong oasis with alien soldier and general chaos not far behind.
Inserts game..... SEGA!!!!!
ОтветитьThe fact that he included the Gauntlet 4 soundtrack... guy knows his stuff.
ОтветитьNumerous hours to consume? (Phantasy Star IV) How do you consume a story? You know the definition of consume is to : eat, drink or ingest. You play through the story or experience the story but please don’t eat the cartridges man, they are expensive these days.
ОтветитьI grew up with the MegaDrive and it's awesome to know that many of the game still hold up beautifully even nowadays!
THUS SAID - COMIX ZONE IS THE GOAT!
Really cool list! I can only imagine how tough this was to make. Nice one picking Sonic 2 over Sonic 3 & Knuckles. As technically cool as the latter is, I often felt that the stage design felt counterintuitive to Sonic's greatest feature (speed) than the preceding games. Gotta say, though, I prefer the first Shining Force to the sequel by a country mile. The sequel does have incredible character design, but it's so unbalanced compared to its predecessor, and enemies hit like a truck, that it makes it difficult to feel like you are getting any traction. Also, many enemies are super mean spirited compared to the prior game. I used to play Shining Force obsessively, so it's weird how different it feels. Thank God for Shining Force CD, which felt more like a return to form for me. (I also not keen on scouring every pot, nook, and cranny for random mithril or promotion items.) Bold call on picking Castlevania: Bloodlines as best action game, and I'm 100% on board! It's my fave Castlevania, hands down. Truly one I could play over and over. I feel the same about Contra: Hard Corp. I remember the day when I could get any ending without losing a life; yeah, I was a little obsessed with it. Konami killed it with these two. Side note: I'm still surprised that of all the arcade ports that made it on to the Sega Mini 2, we got Fatal Fury 2 instead of the likes of Mortal Kombat (any of them). I'm not a huge Mortal Kombat fan, but even this struck me as weird, as all the Takara ports felt like one-off weekend rentals at best for me as a kid, never one to buy.
