That first one from Hill: He BARELY transferred his weight with that little kick step. Basically a swing from the hips that went 500ft. If he opens up more and lays into that ball it goes 550 easily.

None of these were hit during the stat cast era or at Coors field. Coincidence or do we want to believe these distances because they sound amazing? Since stat cast there have been FOUR 500+ foot homers and THREE of them at Coors field. The furthest stat cast homer was 505 feet.

This is why I dont buy into Mantle hitting a 734 foot dinger or even Ruth hitting a 575. We have already seen the hardest hitters come up against the hardest throwers during the steroid era, and they all barely cleared 500. Mcgwire hit one 545 feet and said there was absolutely no way he couldve hit a baseball any harder than that. These Ruth and Mantle homerun distance "feats" need to disappear once and for all. They never actually happened and we all know it.

I used to be an usher at Tiger Stadium, and I knew people who were at that All Star Game. The HR Jackson hit may have been the longest homerun EVER hit at Tiger Stadium....no one had hit a transformer before he did; and it never happened again.

Why not find some of the lesser names home runs I saw some go straight away center field in old Tiger Stadium. I saw one go out of Dodger Stadium and She Stadium. One over Waveland avenue one would’ve hit the back of the Astrodome one of the facing of the upper deck in Veteran’s Stadium.
