It's still good, but there are some rather annoying things about the phone.

Manual brightness is sub par on all pixel devices . Ive had a number of pixels and have always had them set at maximum brightness - with the brightness slider ( not to confuse auto peak brightness with manual brightness) in terms of manual brightness, the display should be capable of going up to around 800 nits would afford more flexibility. I looked at a 7Pro, even that had poor manual brightness.

I was having a lot of issues with pixel 6a. Connectivity was also going in and out. Best pixel for me was the 3a xl

Google needs to fix the Brightness for sure on their Phones. I've had the same problem when outside in bright Sunlight with my Google Pixel 6 and my Google Pixel 7 I do have the Google Pixel 7a running Android 14 Beta so I haven't taken that outside yet but I'm sure it will have the same issues. I'm sure there's some kind of Third Party App people can use to make the Brightness even brighter but we shouldn't have to do that it should just be that way already.

Google is a financial behemoth with a market cap equal to or more than several major countries and yet it finds it difficult to sell these beta products at a loss. What a bunch of short sighted morons! If Google’s ultimate goal is to be able to design its own silicon from scratch just like the fruit company, then it should be prepared to lose money on its current crop of devices in return for the invaluable data being provided by the users of its G1 & G2 devices. Corporate myopia, greed, and idiocy at its finest.

Delicious Steve, I cannot agree with you on the size thing. I passed on the 6A just because of the small size. I want 7 inch screen size! Just small enough to not call a tablet. I don't watch TV. I don't like to hold a big tablet all the time, either. I use my phone 95% of the time. So I want a nice big screen. Afterall, what good is the great cameras if you can't see the details in the pictures?

I had the Pixel 6 when it came out. Problems began less than 24 hours out of the box. Called 911 twice by itself. Needless to say my local police department was not happy. Would turn itself off & back on again. Laggy & jittery. Returned it a week later & will not buy anything from Google.

I've got a 6a and no plans to upgrade. I wish they pulled a zenfone10 move w/ this, and made improvements w/ out raising the price

To me, the 3 Pixels I owned were enough to keep me away from them. Yes, they have good qualities but they aren’t complete and end up feeling like buggy beta phones. Google shot themselves in the foot going with a badly optimized, glorified Exynos chipset that isn’t stable. The number of issues Tensor phones have are just insane. Google should’ve kept using Snapdragon chipsets until they have their own Tensor chip perfected. Their prices are way too high as well but if the Pixels were fully optimized, it might be worth it. As they are now, there’s just too many cons versus pros.

Charging more than the competition but delivering less (at least in some areas) than them? I guess they really are trying to be the iphone of Android lol! I hope they stay competitive though since we need stronger performance options for the budget/mid tier market I think.

You might have heard this is not exactly the same Tensor 2 chip as in the P7. Something to do with the packaging. That may explain the bad battery life. Google shouldn't advertise the 7a as having the same Tensor 2 chip if there are variations. You're right little to no discount in Canada as well. Sales cant be good on this phone.

I've had three unknown calls since yesterday, as soon as they hear the call screen announcement, they hang up. Very satisfying.

In contrast to the 6a's brightness, it's battery on mine has been excellent. Easily lasts all day with moderate use.

If you think the brightness on the 7a is bad, you should see my 6a. Think yourself lucky to see anything in the sun.
