Enjoyed that David, big Tomcat fan. A snapshot into the past as well as an insight into carrier ops.
ОтветитьGreat but terrifying video
ОтветитьTomcats!!😲...Thanks for showing this to us, talking about a high stress environment..Such a cool clip!👌😎🙏
ОтветитьSailors, shelbacks and leather necks. Fair winds and following seas, Hoorah!
ОтветитьEnjoyed this film. It doesn't look too much different than when I was a photographer on the flight deck of the USS Hancock CVA - 19 1960-61.
ОтветитьJust think most of those sailors are just 19 to 22years old. Heck some were in high-school a year before. I absolutely feared and love being on the flight deck. It made a kid grow up to a man really fast.
ОтветитьFirst thing that came back to me while watching this video was the ever present smell of JP5. Anyone else notice that?
ОтветитьOne at home...Love it!
ОтветитьThank you so much for this, I try to watch "flight deck crews" every day because it impresses me as to how they all get it done. Again thanks
ОтветитьIt's now been almost 40 years since this video was filmed. I know this because I had orders to HS-7 on the Kennedy and that boat is now moth balled, and I chose to separate and get out. A friend of mine also had orders to HS-7 and went on this cruise. This was when the Marine barracks in Beirut was bombed and Kennedy spent 6 months floating out there in the Med with I believe only 1 port call. Thanks to all now serving, those who have, and those who will in the future. FLY NAVY!!!
ОтветитьThe flight deck choreography… impressive.
ОтветитьHMM..HERE I WAS THINKING THIS WOULD BE AN ACTUAL DANCE ON THE FLIGHT DECK..LITTLE DID I REALIZE THIS WAS ABOUT THE DECK CREW WHICH YES IS A DANCE IN AND OF ITSELF
ОтветитьKITTYHAWK CATS!
ОтветитьMy heart swells with pride❤
Ответить...had the privilege of working the roof on the Kitty Hawk, Constellation, Enterprise, America, Kennedy, Nimitz, IKE, Vinson, Stennis Washington. Once you work the roof, all other jobs are boring! FLY NAVY!
ОтветитьSo enjoy any video that involves our military services. Even as a veteran, I am always amazed at the things these brave warriors do!!
ОтветитьThat's precisely what Tony Scott managed to capture so beautifully in the first Top Gun movie - the deck dances
ОтветитьIf you look very closely at your screen, you can see me bowing my head with respect . I'd bow lower but I'm old .
I have gratitude for them all.
The engineer guy!!!!
ОтветитьI love this video and all the other video's from onto of a aircraft carrier
ОтветитьThat was a good video. Going to save it, it's a keeper.
ОтветитьI miss these days
ОтветитьJust watching those guys at the end talking between themselves about the hooks, took me back 45 yrs to my military days. The banter is like nothing else, and I miss it so much.
ОтветитьSo cool!!😊
ОтветитьMy best job ever.....
ОтветитьDid two Tonkin Gulf cruises, Yankee Station on the Big "E", AO2 Ordnance Handling, flight deck IYAOYAS '71-'72 This was a great video!
ОтветитьMy oldest son was a brown shirt on the Theodore Roosevelt and then the Enterprise.
ОтветитьWhy are David Hoffmann video's the best?
He let's people talk.
Most Navy Sailors love to explain their jobs.
20 years in the Navy. Never on a bird farm.
Watched em from small boys and what a experience it is to watch a full cycle. A true ballet.
Wow! I commend the filmmaker on this video. This is truly a testament of how Flight Deck personnel operated regarding Catapult and Arresting Gear operations. I understand that these operations were done years ago, but this is how I also remembered how it was correctly done. Thank you!
ОтветитьThat’s got to be the most seriously badass job ever. Well done seems inadequate but it’s all I’ve got. Great film too.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🇦🇺
ОтветитьI was in the fleet air arm in the Royal Navy. Best job ever.
ОтветитьMy Dad was a jet mechanic. He did this work for 20 years
ОтветитьThis video by far is probably the best that I’ve seen that represents “old school” catapult launches. They don’t do this anymore. Thank you for posting this.
Ответить…from the Sailors whom you were at sea with, dear David? 🤗😘💙
ОтветитьMy husband is a retired Navy Flight Surgeon from the Vietnam era. Surprising when they were doing cardiac biometric testing on the fighter pilots flying sorties over North Vietnam, their heart rates and blood pressure were higher landing on the aircraft carrier than avoiding SAMs.
ОтветитьThe flight deck is the most intense environment. And dangerous! I sat in "an air-conditioned office" while these young heroes busted their a$$es. I cannot say enough about the flight deck crew. Air Department and Squadron. We made great team. The guys in Air Ops, while in a better environment, also had your back. Nothing like hearing a calm, consistent, familiar voice when you're having a rough night. A lot of trust in a carrier environment. LOVE IT!
ОтветитьAngels if the sea
ОтветитьLoved the flight deck. You can't explain to people what it's like up there.
ОтветитьI LOVE most videos on aviation. The closest for me (besides flying on planes) was I learned to fly gliders. This stuff is just amazing! I’ve been around military people a lot in my life and I realize especially with this stuff; you have to have your shit together. Thanks
ОтветитьThe most dangerous job on the planet
ОтветитьThis is great.
ОтветитьI'm a raf daughter so obs I love planes, watching plane deck dances though with the navy doesn't just me goosebumps but hairy prickles on my arms.
Much love and respect to the young people that serve. I know my dad would agree.
Wow! Thank you.
ОтветитьYou can bet there was a guy practically holding on to this guys belt during ops. VA83 Rams 71 Med AQF2 A7s 12 hour shifts.
ОтветитьThe av is 22 I've heard
ОтветитьTalk about having to stay super-focused and vigilant. Life or death. God bless our military.
ОтветитьMilitary. Love em
ОтветитьI WAS THERE,THE GOOD OLE DAYS.
