ОтветитьDo you recommend placing the beds over the rock? We were thinking of placing beds down then spread rocks around them afterward. Does it matter? Our space is fairly small. 3 4x4 beds with 3 feet in between on all sides.
ОтветитьVery useful video. One question the 2x6s is see here are joint without any bevel. Can I do bevel cut, is it worth doing bevel 45 degree joint at the corner? Also what’s the silicone used to seal the gaps?
ОтветитьGreat way to do it thank you very much
ОтветитьThis was EXTREMELY useful! Very well done
Ответитьtreated lumber has arsenic. Yeah...hard pass on treated lumber. I had to use plastic planters because of termites. Termites eat redwood and cedar.
Ответитьamazing
Ответить❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
ОтветитьWhere did you get the arched trellis ?
ОтветитьThis is a fantastic tutorial! Time saving, moving saving, material saving, and brain saving! Thank you and God bless you!
ОтветитьBesides the additional material cost and additional fill dirt, what is the downside to having raised beds that are about waist high? It seems like higher would be better, more ergonomic. What am I missing?
ОтветитьI’m creating a garden for my school and I think these are perfect boxes for them! Could I possibly get the lumber supply list in a less advanced terminology way lol??
ОтветитьThose are absolutely gorgeous, my wife and i will be building some here pretty soon .
ОтветитьHow do you stop the groundhogs, deer, chipmunks, rabbits, etc?
ОтветитьCan’t wait to get outside to start my raised beds… great info… thanks from Pittsburgh, PA
ОтветитьYes! I've been looking for a more basic tutorial on garden bed construction, from the width of boards to number of screws per board. This answered everything. I was thinking maybe two 2x6's, but definitely want to spend more for 3 per side. Thanks for the great video.
ОтветитьSimilar to the beds I build. I run 2- 4 foot boards connecting the side sections to the opposing sides. Bowing always seem to be an issue after a few years as the soil settles. It also eliminates the steel strapping as I tie them into each layer. Also to avoid using the 4x4s I use a kreg jig to join the lumber which allows one to sink the screws at a 45 degree angle to the board. its actually a stronger joint than tieing into a 4x. I also treat the ends and bottom with linseed oil and throw a small bead of marine caulking at each sunken screw head. Ive always built with cedar as the redwood is difficult and expensive on the east coast. I have several beds that are at least 2O years old and still in pretty good shape.
Ответитьthank you for well informative about gardening
ОтветитьReally enjoyed the informative video.👍👍
ОтветитьWhat is the height on those beds if they are not at the same height as your kitchen countertop you've just wasted your time building them all because you're still doing stoop labor
ОтветитьHomestead mantap
ОтветитьJust garden the old fashioned way if you have a huge space. More yield per square foot. Much less expensive.
ОтветитьLive in phoenix should metal work for beds or would they bring to much heat?
ОтветитьI would like to see these raised garden beds in 5 years times. I believe that the sides needs more support. The supports would possibly work better if on the outside, as the opposing forces are in this direction. They do look pretty, but any builder would be concerned about there strength. More so after watering and or rain. Good luck. Kiwi
Ответитьwow, I'm impressed. that's a big compliment.
ОтветитьIf you want to make them wider and you can't reach, just walk around to the other side of the bed.
ОтветитьYou’re a natural.
ОтветитьYou should put metal braces on outside. Putting on inside, the moisture and weight of soil pushes against wood, will bow the wood and the wood will pull away from screws.
ОтветитьGreat video
Ответитьдеревянный, бл**ть, ящик, в него земли насыпь... 16 минут про это рассказывать) 21 век.. мы обречены))
ОтветитьGreat video. Love the way you build these. You must have one heck of a budget to have that many beds made out of that wood type.
ОтветитьHi Deanna. Thank you for sharing this beautiful content. Does the stone laid down on the ground help to suppress weeds? Do you ever get any weeds that germinate in-between the stones? Because I love the look of this and it would help me so much against weeds because lol weeding is a never ending season to season time consuming job lol.
ОтветитьHow big is the entire area that you have graveled ?
Beautiful space !
I lined the inside of my boards with roll metal roof flashing to extend the life.
ОтветитьReally awesome video and channel. This is literally picture perfect and an inspiration. I really like the setup and especially those fabric potted plants.
ОтветитьThat’s a ton of money in cedar.
Ответить(9) 2 x 6 x 8 at 30.00 per board = 300.00 per bed excluding corner 4 x4
ОтветитьI love the gravel, which we also have in our yard but I have some concerns. I heard that eventually the soil will fill the spaces between the rocks at the bottom and actually slow down drainage. It is often referred to as a “perched water table” where excess moisture accumulates above the rock layer, potentially causing root rot and other moisture-related issues.
I am building beds now and debating if I should move some of the gravel out of the way and expose more of the ground/landscape fabric area before filling them up. 🤔
I don’t see this addressed anywhere, any tips/info would be greatly appreciated!
Love this video! Is the size 4 feet X 8 feet X 16 feet? Approximately? Thanks
ОтветитьThanks for sharing your advice on raised beds.
ОтветитьVery awesome video with helpful tips. Thanks.
You got yourself a very nice place.
I will, probably, use some of your tips! 😉
I will add 12”x24” pavers into the garden bed so I can step inside
ОтветитьHow long does it last? How can we protect wood from rain?
Ответитьi like the plants in the background
ОтветитьI've just come across your channel!!! Do you have any suggestions for keeping rabbits at bay. Mt husband and I would really love a small garden in our backyard, but we have rabbits that love to invade our space
Ответить❤here in the Philippines, we have incredible number of trees ...but the govt interfered and we cannot cut them.....even if the tree is yours, located in your backyard. 😂😂😂
We dont ,simply dont have lumber. ..
Impressive organization and straight forward instructional videos! Thx
Ответить❤Awesome!❤
