I remember when Ravensburger was first starting to release 3D puzzles. They were of famous landmarks and I got the Schloss Neuschwanstein one for a birthday of mine. The puzzle pieces back then were made of thick but really soft foam you'd stick together. Looked nice enough when the puzzle just got done, but iIt would sadly not take long until individual pieces of the building, like the towers, started to drift apart.

Growing up my neighbours had a little puzzle ball that we would put together and then we would play catch and throw it around until it broke and then we would take it all apart and then put it back together and do it all again
