The Heart is Not a Pump

If there was ever anything that needed to be proclaimed from the rooftop, the work Ralph did on the heart is it. Douglas is the perfect one to tell the tale. I can attest to his characterization of Ralph as I spent a week with him in Hawaii by virtue of recommendations made by Douglas to the Kahumana community. I have yet to enjoy traveling with anyone as much as I did with Ralph. His warmth, humor, insight and optimism was contagious and enlivening. Thank you Douglas for reminding me his work and life.

Look into heart disease. The way heart problems interact with the circulatory system makes is obvious that the heart pumps the blood. I’m open to the fact modern science has messed up quite a bit, but this subject is hard for me to buy. I’ll look into this further though.

Well......my husband now has a pump for a heart. He had a heart attack and a hole in the bottom ventricles which could not be repaired, so the surgeons removed his heart and replaced it with......a mechanical heart pump (SynCardia Freedom Driver). He has been living on it for the last 2.5 years and hoping for a heart transplant soon :)

The heart separates the lungs from the blood stream creating a variable displacement reservoir for a varying capacity and pressure of the lungs. Somewhat like a canal lock for ships to pass through, the gates of the canal open and close isolating the lungs from the rest of the body of fluid. Also, is the "pause" (at rest) of blood inside the lungs allow the exchange to gasses ?

The heart has many functions. God is great!

Great to be reminded of what I have heard, that the heart is not a pump. I even heard that the heart is more like a break! Blood is being sucked into the heart via capillary action probably from the capillary beds causing the blood to go from low pressure into medium pressure in the veins. The heart then turns the blood into a vortex keeping up the high pressure in the aorta which is like a balloon.
