I just have a question: in n8n, why use a community MCP server instead of creating our own MCP server? I'm wondering about the security aspect.

For example, if I want to use an MCP server with Hubspot, I've seen that there are several available. But in the end, I could just create my own MCP server once and use it forever, right?

Maybe I missed something with this MCP thing, but it seems to me that the only real advantage of using a community MCP server (instead of an official or self-hosted one) is speed — basically, saving a bit of time by not having to set it up ourselves.

I don’t really understand what mcp is vs just normal n8n. You previously set up agents that called other agents and read emails or created emails and wrote stories like in this video via the normal agent workflow. Not really sure in this video what mcp clearly is

As always, great tutorials. With this one, however, I got stuck. I edited the `claude_desktop_config.json` file with your code provided in the description, updated the URL with the Production URL provided by the MCP. When opening Claude, I get an error stating: "Server disconnected. Could not connect to the MCP server n8n". Also Claude logs suggest "Server transport closed unexpectedly, this is likely due to the process exiting early"
Not sure if somehow you encountered this issue. If so, maybe you can provide the steps to be followed?

Quick question Leon, any idea how to run the Elevenlabs MCP server in combination with the N8N MCP client? Or do you need to build a wrapper around the server due to the SSE endpoint requirement?

I am an automation developer, and all the hype around MCP doesn’t make sense to me (yet). I’m used to building my automations to do exactly what I need, triggering them with webhooks. This causes the automation to run, process the sent data, and send me a response - pretty much the same as what you can do with MCPs today. So, what does using MCP offer me personally that makes it so much better (except maybe "more flexible connection") than webhooks?

Im trying to get all users feedback via my gmail, I make a new node tool, use it with gmail but it keeps saying that there is no Gmail found. Although, the tool is perfectly loaded on Claude, here is what the Model told me "I don't see a Get_user_feedbacks tool in the list of available tools that I have access to. Someone clarify something for me. Can’t you do everything in this video like generate twitter posts, create todos, mark todos all without MCP. If you are making an MCP video, why don’t you showcase some functionality that only mcp integration with n8n can do, for a more effective video. I can already do everything shown in the video without MCP and just n8n, so i don’t know the benefit of using MCP do I? Correct me if i am wrong lol

I've self-hosted N8N. Unfortunately, I can't connect to the MCP server. Even a test in the console doesn't work. I've read that others with self-hosted N8N also have problems. Did I forget any ENV variable?

That's insane the possibilities are endless I'm using docker and i had to change the tag of the image from latest to beta to use this feature and btw 1.86.1 in docker was running the community MCP tool just fine no crashing in a pretty small vm 2vcpu and 4Gb ram

I notice you use Windows has this had any limitations with running MCP servers?

You can use tools like supergateway or mcp-proxy to automatically convert stdio MCP servers to SSE so you can use them in n8n :)
