The second Russian soldier apparently is part of a Storm-Z regiment which all are released prisoners. I imagine that unit discipline must be nonexistent.

Thank you for your great work sharing these dialogues. No one else does this. I do not understand why UA does not capitalize on this utterly incompetent enemy side and focus a point of attack regardless of mine casualties the break through would definitely occur. Yet they just nibble at the front like Russia does. Now its going to be another year before they get the chance in June 2024.

Russia's power is the infosphere and agitprop, not military power, ..they have subverted the right wing in the US which now peddles disaffection and division 24/7 ultimately weakening America...it led to the election of the incompetent boob Trump who kissed Putin's ass and weakened NATO. Russia was involved in Brexit and most recently goosed the Hamas attack leading to the huge societal division fall out in the West.

My primary take-away from this, is that if the Ukrainian army cannot dislodge a Russian army that is supposedly nothing but drunken convicts - then I have to ask, who's lying?

The other question must be: If it is true that the Russians don't know what they're doing, are incompetent buffoons, then pray they don't sober up any time soon.

Worst "Army". Just a cynic bunch of criminals. Regular western armys like the Army of Ukraine have: professionalism, discipline, comradeship, empathy, order and laws.

In Germany it is called "Staatsbürger in Uniform" which means a "citizen in Uniform". Therefore the solider is a citizen that follows democracy and has the right to reject illegal orders.

The russian army only seems to be Professional in looting, not reflecting the propaganda and to not care about any human life (also their own. Ten thousands were sent into the meatgrinder)

Russians drink. Boy do they drink. I worked on a Russian oil exploration vessel . Russians would walk into a bar on their day off. Every man would buy a bottle of vodka and a beer. Whew! I thought I was a serious drinker in those days, but oh wow.

I understand that during the 3 months of the Maidan, demonstrators did not drink. Ukrainians are awesome. Ukrainians are an existential threat to today's Russia because if Russians ever look over the border and see what free people can do, they might do it in Russia. Putin wants to enslave Ukrainians, but it doesn't work for long. Slava Ukraini!

The Russian Army has completely gutted their institutional accumulation of skills and competent personnel by throwing them piece meal into the Ukrainian meat grinder. Using Special Forces as basic infantry has killed off decades of very specialized practical experience. Their best tank crews, artillery crews, logistics units, and more have been wiped out wholesale. I'm increasingly surprised that they are able to hold out just about anywhere with what they have to fight with and who they have in service.

What’s interesting (and sad) is that these conversations have now reached the point where the war is normalised for them, it’s part of their lives now, just like their failing health system, education, infrastructure and social mobility. And the majority probably still turn on their Tv and believe the propaganda about the West being in a worse state…..

Great interception. The war means a rise in the percentage of men who are alcoholics in service to Russia and after Ukraine wins the war it will get even worse. Before the start of the war Russia had 37% to 38% of the male population as alcoholics. Women were at 7%. According to one POW he went out for a night of drinking in the village pub and woke up the next morning and he'd been conscripted. Then he laughed and said that all 4 of the "village drunks" had been conscripted. One ended up in the hospital for neurological issues after drinking home made vodka from the locals (DPR) even though they had been warned not to buy the locals' alcohol because it could be made from anything. It's bad enough that the conscripted men are drunks but even some of the commanders have gotten drunk and fired on their own men. It is hard to believe that a modern and extremely wealthy country can't put together a decently trained army. In one video it explained that the 1 year mandatory service, prior to the group who attacked Ukraine, learned some basics but spent their 1 year doing what we in the US would consider community service. Paint signs, mow the lawns, and other menial labor and some never even saw a weapon let alone taught to use one. Thank goodness. That explains why the majority of the men who aren't from areas that you need a rifle due to dangerous wildlife have never handled a gun. I was picturing an Israeli style year of military training at 18 years of age. I am always grateful for Russia's failures. When conscripts get drunk and shoot each other that means there are fewer of them to shoot at Ukraine's civilians and soldiers. Slava Ukraine.

Military throughout history has stories of putting their enemies to sleep and taking that area over.
