am in Central MN and used to burn about 8 cord of Poplar and oak a year, now burning about 12 cord of free Poplar/Aspin slabs in my outside boiler. Until it gets to 0°F I only fill it once a day, 0°-to -20°F twice a day and below -20° 3 times a day. I should point out I like my 75°F house temp
ОтветитьHey. Chris baby. Money making man
ОтветитьI burn 4 cords a year in my house. My Dyna Processor is capable of 4-5 cords an hour ….so it’s a little overkill…..but it’s so much fun to operate for helping out neighbors and friends. We burn mainly Pine and Aspen. It’s about all the wood we have in Utah 🌲🌲🌲😃😃😃🌲🌲🌲
ОтветитьUpstate NY, 15 degrees outside today, typical day. I burn about four full cords a season. I have centralized gas furnace too, so if it was only firewood, it would be more than four cords. My firewood insert is a high efficiency hybrid model with catalytic converter. During the day I often burn at medium setting because the family enjoys the view of the fire, but at night I fully close the damper, so it is mostly red coals and catalytic converter burning all night long. I don't mind burning pine occasionally either. Most people here are snobbish about firewood and only want hardwood, so pine is oftentimes almost free. I burn pine, but make sure that it is really really dry, it is good for getting the fire going because it burns fast and hot.
ОтветитьGrowing up in NH in the 1970s in a ~1900 sq ft house built around 1960, we used to burn 5 or 6 cords a year, mostly mixed hardwood, in a large, conventional wood stove plumbed into the main chimney. Filling it first thing in the morning and again after supper kept the house comfortable. We had back-up oil heat, but we hardly used it in the winter.
ОтветитьI use About 2 full cords a season1k Sq ft house in north eastern Kentucky. I use some electric heat on the shoulder season but not much.
ОтветитьI have a hi efficiency wood stove and a relatively modern home insulated pretty good and I go through about 2-2.5 cord per winter but I don’t burn everyday if it’s not very cold out I don’t fire so I figure I average about 4 burn days a week from November-March
ОтветитьI burn 6 full cords in my outdoor boiler. It heats a 144 year old farm house 2100 square feet 2 story fairly drafty. Northeast Indiana
ОтветитьDepends on the winter here in Michigan I burn last year I burned seven cords of wood but normally if it's really cold close to 10 cords I have crappy windows I have six windows in my living room and I have two sliding glass doors and I have a 1953 house with a add-on in 1976 so this house is not insulated the greatest so that's why I burn a lot of wood. Awesome video
Ответитьhouse built in 1868, I'm in upstate NY near the finger lakes area. 2400 square foot or so. only use downstairs got some insulation not a ton. on average 14 face cord a winter, it's all i use except maybe early in fall may use furnace to take edge off. thought about getting one of those newer stoves they say i could reduce my wood usage by 25%.... hmmm 5k for that big blaze king catalyst stove! it would manage the temps better but i got a big old Timberline stove that'll hold 23 inch pieces anyway you want to put them in, cross ways or forward to back doesn't matter. I buy logs and cut and split myself, besides my time doing that i get 3 winters worth of logs for 1200 bucks.
Ответить5 or 6 cord. Inside wood boiler. 4500 square foot heating area. 7 year old house.
Ответитьthe music was a little bit loud at end of video with trying to hear you speak. Just a heads up.
ОтветитьI cut wood off the farm, trees that fall or storm damage, we have a lot of sweet gum, hard to split, you have to slab it off, bought a wood splitter, made it much better, 66 now and splitting hammer to much on old man, friend of mine had a white oak blow down in a tornado, he let me cut it up for smoker wood. I got about 4 as you call it face cords of white oak, two face cords of cherry, all for smoking in my off set smoker I built. Then I got 14 face cords for my wood heater in my shop, as you I enjoy the exercise, keep the videos coming, I went back this afternoon and watched #1 or first video, Chris you are a natural, I love your honest approach and natural ability
ОтветитьI have an Energy King indoor wood furnace. It is the worst piece of junk I have ever owned. I have owned 5 wood furnaces. this is by far the worst. I had a Decton Russel in my last house and burned about 5-6 cords a year and in 16 years never had to clean my chimney. If they were still in business, I would still own one. When I bought the Energy King, there wasn't much choice. I have a better insulated house and burn twice as much wood, and I have to clean my chimney at least 5 times a year because the Energy King is so inefficient. I was a teacher and never made a lot of money, so I have to keep using it. I am now looking to get a new wood furnace. If any of your people have any references, I would appreciate it. I am probably going to get a Lamppa Kuma. I have heard good things about them, but they are pricy, and I wasn't able to do it this year.
ОтветитьMost winters i burn 7-8 full cords, this year has been so warm I'm still on my wood alloted for November. 4300 sq ft, 56 year old house with bad insulation
ОтветитьI normally burn 3 to 4 cords a year.
ОтветитьHi Chris, over here in HBNZ I burn five cord of mainly pine a year which is a lot by local standards but our house doesn't have any other heat source in it. Just a very good "box fire" I really don't like power bills and my main fitness thing nowdays is cutting and splitting firewood. Hope you and all your viewers have a great festive season. Cheers from Hawkes Bay New Zealand.
ОтветитьHi Chris, I was wondering if you were still doing the video with all the pics and videos of our wood sheds and stuff we use on our firewood processes ? Love the channel !
ОтветитьChris, as always thank you for all you do! I have yet another question. I am very close to having enough money to purchase either a dump trailer or a faster splitter (Eastonmade Ultra). Which of these pieces of equipment would you prioritize getting first? Sir, thank you!
ОтветитьI burn between seven and eight cords of wood per year. I’m using an outdoor boiler heating a 14 x 20 wood shop, 28 x 32 garage, and 1800 square-foot house plus hot water.
ОтветитьWe burn 6 cord to keep our two story house heated. An old Country insert downstairs runs all winter and if it is really cold I fire up the really old Country insert upstairs too. I try to burn Doug fir here in western Washington. Sometimes some hemlock and red alder too. You inspire to keep after it Chris. Never stop moving 😉
ОтветитьI live in an old 1900 farmhouse there’s 1970’s newspaper if there is anything at all in the walls. Got a large outdoor boiler and I sell all the premium wood and I burn all the chunk wood so about 13 full cords of hardwood in a winter and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Yeah it’s a lot of work to feed it.
Ответить4-5 cord a yr Oct- mid May. 1400 ft ranch in N. NH. Hard and Softwood. Oil burning forced air furnace and water heater. Yr round cost target for heat/elec is $130./mo.
Ответить14 face cords, open concept house (loft bedroom), mix of elm, maple, oak, walnut, and ironwood. Winter overnight temps can go down to -30C/-22F. The place stays cozy with the big old Elmira stove that can handle 22" logs :)
ОтветитьHey Chris, we burn 4 full cords of good birch to heat the house for the year, where’s the snow?
ОтветитьI would burn on average 7 cords or 25m2 between the house and workshop. Main heat for the house

Eight full bush cords from November 1 to around mid April… At least a good six months since we’re two hours north of Toronto where it’s even colder…
ОтветитьI have an EPA Boiler and burn 6-8 Full cords per year. Last year I only burned 4. Our old boiler burned 10 to 12 full cords.
ОтветитьWatching from Japan , it’s our first year with our new house with a wood stove and we are 1 month into winter and we have used 1 and a half cords already, 3 more cold months to go 🥶.
ОтветитьI go through about 10 to 12 cords heating my house, shop, and domestic hot water.
ОтветитьI heat my home with wood and wood only. I invested in a vapor fire 100 from lamppa
And it’s amazing. I live in northern Minnesota and burn approx 4-5 full cords a year.
Very interesting to see how much people use. We live in Phoenix AZ. so we do not need to heat that way.
ОтветитьI have a 1600 sq ft cape, I burn just under 3 tons of pellets here in central Mass, if a ton of pellets is roughly equal to the same btu's of a full cord of wood that sound about right
ОтветитьI burn right at 2 full cords or 6 FACE CORDS as you and I call it. This is the normal amount that my stove burns and it heats my entire home all winter. I burn all the cut offs and odd pieces that I don't sell. I sell about 70 plus full cords per year and all the cutoffs and weird pieces heat my home and stove.
ОтветитьI burn 10-12 full cords a year in my boiler. 1500 sq ft house set at 72°. I heat from Halloween through May.
Ответить6-7 full cords from November through April. Location: Central NJ. 3200 sq ft multi level house. Vermont Casting stove. The nights that get down to single digits, I turn on the propane central forced hot air furnace in the morning, just to get the chill out and give me a chance to load up the stove enough to get the blower to kick on.
ОтветитьWe were burning about 20-25 a year
Ответить1-3 full cords, but I use electricity when it is below 0,1-0,2 dollars a KW/H, which is a lot of the time. (Norway)
ОтветитьI burn about 1.5-2 cords a year. I fill up the stove in the morning and it last about 8-10 hours before reloading.
ОтветитьDude……don’t tell the underwear story anymore!😂🤣😂
ОтветитьWe're in Deep South Mississippi, about 20 miles from the Gulf Coast, as the crow flies. We burn mostly for enjoyment in the indoor fireplace, outdoor fire pit and small outdoor fire pit. Some for smoking. We have a fire lit in the fireplace whenever the temp is 59 or below. Last cold season we burned 1 1/2 face cords. On pace this year for 2 1/2 (not counting smoking). I've cut, split, and stacked 7 1/2 cords. Donated 2 1/2 cords to those needing firewood. When I retired in 2020 purchased the Champion 27 ton splitter. Splits live oak and red oak which about half our inventory. The other half is mostly water oak and some gum. Of the cords cut- 2 cords were pecan which is used strictly for smoking. Same goes for Hickory and Cherry woods. Been cutting wood since a kid using a two bladed axe. I do appreciate the tips and information you provide on the channel.
ОтветитьI’m in upstate New York. I burn about 5-6 full cords per year. Last year I only burnt 4 and 2 were later in the season where we had a wet chilly march and April. I burn mainly maple, oak, and walnut, but I’m not picky, and anything I can get will burn.
ОтветитьThe last 3 years we have burned 4 face cords each year having fires on nights and weekends in a wood stove to heat the house here in Ohio.
ОтветитьHi from Nova Scotia in the great white north, we burn three full cords per year here in a Pacific energy woodstove in the basement.
Ответить🤘About 7 full cords and all my cookies and cut offs. We call them “uglies “
Ответитьour 1500 sq ft 2 story home was built in 1900, its well insulated and upgraded. right after the stimulus $ was distributed, we finally invested in a professionally installed high efficient wood stove placed in the only place it would work, in the kitchen. it heats the upstairs as well, with the thermostat reading between 71-76 degrees consistently.
about 75% of the wood we have acquired, we have received for free (we had to cut up and haul away). the last 2 winters we've used about 2 to 2-1/2 full cords each time. we utilize a small wall mounted fan, 2 ceiling fans and the stove fan, this pushes that heat around a corner, up the stairs to warm up the upstairs, tho we close the bedroom doors bcs we like it cool for sleeping. the furnace is set at 68 just to keep the temp steady but it hardly gets used.
good ol iowa winters.... got some snow last night. more coming thursday and more on sunday... we can dip into the negative 10s-20s and thats when the ol girl starts having trouble keeping it above 70. put some more clothes on and shoes... and maybe a blanket lol
right after we locked in the price for the stove, inflation kicked in and the price had gone up by $800 the following month.
I'm in a warmer climate. I do about 2 cords a year. and honey locust is wicked. it's hard as a rock, it takes a lot of heat to get it going, but once it's going, it pours out the heat.
Ответить26 full cord, or so, year round burning for heat and hot water on an almost 6k sq ft home, with two connected garage bays. Outdoor boiler. Northern Maine.
