Thanks for using the red and white Belarusian flag. The current flag represents a regime that doesn't care about the language and wants to replace it with Russian, so it isn't worthy of representing the language it is trying to kill off.

1) Belarussian written in Arabic ? Fascinating .. The first written Afrikaans was done in Arabic script by Cape Malays 2) Belarussian really has some unique words differing from all other Slavic languages eg. "Chuhunka" .. thats totally different. And "siabr" for friend, thats very peculiar.

I see in this video a new attempt to build newly invented local pseudo-grammar without taking into account Common Slavic and further upper levels. When you name "ja czytaŭ" as Imperfective would you maybe try to read at first Serbo-Croatian grammar and discover for yourself Perfect Participles and true Imperfect look?

It would be cool to see a comparison of Polish and Belarusian as well. Of course they are not as similar as Belarusian and Ukrainian, but still there are a lot of similarities. For example, Belarusian has a huge number of Polish loanwords, and also in the western regions, especially in Hrodna, some Polish grammatical structures have been adopted. For example, in Hrodna one could sometimes hear in the structure of the future tense from the old people, e.g. I will work, as "я буду рабіў", very close to Polish "ja będę robił" instead of the Belarusian variant "Я буду рабіць". Also in the western regions of Belarus, the verb "to be" was often used, and the grammatical forms "it is" or "that is", while in modern literary Belarusian you don't need "to be" verb. Also in Belarusian the absence of something "няма" is Polish "nie ma". I am not even talking about the closeness of the phonetic component of the languages with the presence of a large number of hushing sounds in both languages. By the way, the Belarusian language also uses the Latin alphabet, and it seems to be quite understandable to Poles.

I’m Belorussian but my native language is Russian although my grandparents spoke mix of Polish and Belorussian. I understand Belorussian and Ukrainian. I’d also learned to speak Polish which was very easy for me. Слава Україні! Жыве Беларусь! Привет из США!

As a native Ukrainian speaker, I can say that Belarusian is for me absolutely understandable without studying (both reading and listening). There are certain problems with writing, as it is not always clear when to write у꙼ (in the Ukrainian language there is no letter for this sound)

Let’s hope that Belarusian language will survive. Examples given in the video were indeed closer to Polish. Also pronunciation in Belarusian seems closer to Polish. I can read Cyrillic script but as 7 year old ;) Belarusian in Latinka is so easy :)

An interesting fact: in the comments under the video, it is clearly visible how Russian Nazis burned their asses because of this video. Especially due to the fact that the author marked the correct borders of Ukraine (which the whole world recognized) and the correct national flag of Belarus instead of the Soviet flag, which was imposed on Belarusians by the Russian occupiers.

После Разделов Речи Посполитой империя старательно переносит имя Литва на этническую Жмудь. Идеологи Российской империи (в первую очередь историки, такие как К.А. Гаворский, М.О. Коялович, М.Ф. Владимирский-Буданов, М.К. Native Ukrainian speaker. I understand 90% of Belarusian, and that's only because I rarely meet it somewhere, so I don't have practice. I think that I understand spoken language better, although the written form does not cause any real difficulties.

Pluperfect in Ukrainian language is an archaism.
I don't know what about pluperfect in Belarusian language but it might be an archaism in that, too.

Wrong flag and borders 👎👎👎

Аs a speaker of ukrainian language, I can say that it is sometimes even hard to distinguish these two languages for the first few seconds of a pearson speaking. So it is muck more mutually understandable in a spoken form. Also it is very hard to find ane Belorussian speakers, cuz majority of their young speaks only russian. It is a result of a rusification policy, Ukraine suffered from it too in a soviet times.

This is not the Belarusian flag, educate yourself before trying to educate others.

The biggest problem with Belarusian for me is not to stumble over their A where I expect O in texts. That's what makes it hard to read fluently. When I see let's say ‘гадзіна’ I may think of it as our ‘га́дина’ (Serpent/Bad person) while it actually was our ‘годи́на’ (Hour). In spoken language it's easier because you hear where the stress is and it helps a lot. As for understanding I don't remember any problems, all you need is to know such often words as ‘apošni’ or ‘mienavita’ 😂
