Throwback clip because Linus will be joining us AGAIN on That Creative Life tomorrow for episode 100!!!!!!!
ОтветитьAnd now he handed his company to same thick skull, wait wut? :D That’s gotta be some twisted love-hate relationship ever with his boss
ОтветитьThat's why NCIX went bankruptcy in 2017... Lol...
ОтветитьTom's Hardware, Linus Tech Tips, Paul's Hardware, and NewEgg = the best of tech and tech news !
ОтветитьImagine being the CEO of a company who got rid of the man who fundamentally disagreed with your business strategy and left to create a tech entertainment enterprise while your own company went bankrupt.
ОтветитьHow ironic. His boss is going to be the new CEO of his company
ОтветитьAnd now that same boss is the new CEO of LMG
ОтветитьWatching this after seeing LInus build a PC out of the corpse of the NCIX logo is... something.
ОтветитьLinus at Canada Computers would be so interesting
ОтветитьI bet his boss still having massive depression about how linus progressed
ОтветитьWhat a backstabber.
ОтветитьThis reminds me of so many fundamental disputes I had with my employer in the 90's, Hastings Entertainment. They wanted to keep doing things the old way. I thought we needed to be doing things a completely new way. I left the company. Turns out I was right. I should have started my own company. Missed opportunity.
Ответитьthanks for the visual prompts, they really help paint the picture of what the interviewee is talking about
ОтветитьWhat a terrible host. I doubt she understood 10% of what Linus said
ОтветитьI was waiting for his segue for todays sponsor
ОтветитьLots of bad managers out there, unfortunately. They're in every corner of the globe leaving ruined employees and companies in their wake.
And I'm not talking about "bad managers" as people you have disagreements with. I mean the ones who ignore all reasonable logic for the sake of implementing their own twisted plans for short-term self gain, with no interest in developing a healthy organization. And look at what happened with NCIX. They DESTROY companies.
25 - 75% margins, but how much did each item cost to store in the warehouse over that period? If you subtracted that from the margin, it would drop, correct? Seems like the argument would be easy to resolve - wether you are making money or not
ОтветитьThis girl did zero research before talking to him. Joke
ОтветитьThis hole needs to stop talking and let him speak
ОтветитьSo did Linus ever call that boss?
ОтветитьNot very professional to describe all this detail like this, after all this is just half of the story, I am talking about the emails and complains. But I guess that company no longer exist right?
ОтветитьTo be fair on the ceo, linus only ever got away with buying all that stock because it was an aio, which saw little advancement therefor price stayed the same
If he did it for any other product I would gladly agree with the ceo that linus should have been out the door for what he did
Great title! Gotta say you reeled me in, subbed! All the best!
Ответить"Do you wish to confirm? (y/n)"
"Are you sure? (y/n)"
F**k this company, I'm out!
And then ncix went broke
Ответить"I'm a numbers driven guy" yet he held up space in the warehouse blocking other products which would have given many small profits totalling more than his one bigger profit.
ОтветитьWhere is this "CEO" so lucid ???
Ответитьdamn this linus person has a great voice for podcasts he should start his own maybe with one of his friends
ОтветитьDUDE! I still am running my NCIX custom build from like 2014/2015 around when the NVIDIA GTX 1080 came out. It was a "beast" then, now it's pretty lax. Cheers.
ОтветитьIt looks like Linus was right about everything. Look what happened. NCIX is no more while Linus Tech Tips has become a juggernaut. I have so much respect for this dude. He's focused on what truly matters--not just business wise but in terms of living life as well. He sets an amazing example of what a nerd can be and how we can thrive.
ОтветитьOur Linus the capitalist. <3
ОтветитьI wish there was a better host for this interview.
ОтветитьWhat is Steve Wu former CEO of NCIX doing now? He seems to have dropped of the map after 2017?
ОтветитьBoth Linus and his former boss had a good point but couldn't see each other's perspective.
ОтветитьDamn linus. I wish my project manager was like him
ОтветитьLove where she like how long ago was that and linus casually looks at his watch and say 6 1/2 years ago lol
ОтветитьI really enjoy watching the short videos q&a on one topic
ОтветитьDid he literally just say "it added an extra click to his work flow." God he is a panzy ass. One click.
ОтветитьWhat a terrible interviewer. I know Linus is a bore, but I hope you got better at your job because this was very poor. The lack of research in the topics was unbelievable. You don't have to be an expert in every area, but the interviewer knew nothing about his background or the topics he was talking about. He was explaining everything step by step to the interviewer, I gave up half way though it was so painful. Yet 56k subs wild
ОтветитьDamm, linus sounds like a karen here
ОтветитьHe didn't fit the height requirement
ОтветитьThis blows my mind because this is so similar to my dad's story, except relating to consumer audio video. My dad was the pioneer of this home technologies division at his job, he had all the knowledge and built it from scratch.. then they started mistreating him and they suddenly stopped paying his commissions. So we sued them, they sued, and they were standing there with their pants down.. with nothing to go with their countersuit. 22 years later, we have hundreds of clients and we are doing so much better than they ever did. (Very complex story, super-undersimplified, doesn't tell the story completely.. but its super close!) Gotta love the origin stories.
ОтветитьA boss not listening to the people who make up the foundation of the company sounds like an idiot.
ОтветитьThis is such a generic story it hurts... Boss making bad decision, getting called out for it, and then pulling the "if you can't follow my order, walk away" card. That's the most efficient way to make your talents flee your company
ОтветитьNcix I never heard of that company at all. It must have been a terrible company.
ОтветитьI read it linux and was baited :/
