Thank you. Didn't hear about this one. Lock my wife out at home once in a while. :( Habit to always lock it behind me. If I had an RV where I couldn't get to the driver's seat, doors locked and battery kill switch.

LEOSA Nationwide concealed carry permit. If you can’t or don’t want to carry a gun, look at Byrna. A non lethal pepper spray “ gun” that is NOT a gun and will not kill anyone.

Was the June 1 or July 1? Canada day is July 1st and is their independence day. I have crossed into Canada many times. A couple times I had a rifle because I was going hunting. I declared it at the border and showed them my Canadian hunting license. The rifle was broken and the bullets were in a lockbox. They didn't have any issue and I proceeded. However that was a long time ago. I don't lock my doors when inside but I travel with dogs.

While I am driving I don't lock the door incase of emergency but not sure if I should lock it. Also things could happen when stop at rest stops etc. Have to be aware of what's going on around you.

I have a self converted minivan camper. My PJs have pockets, I sleep with the van key in my pocket. It is an old style key with no buttons so it wont unlock if i roll on it. I also just bought a 1983 sunline trailer. It doesn't have a locking doorknob, probably not original but it doesn't lock. Tomorrow I am putting a residential deadbolt on it. I also have a hitch lock so it cant be taken without some effort.

I live three hours from Lloydminster. I live rural and understand the RCMP will not be at my door within two minutes of calling for help. That being said I haven’t locked my doors in the thirty years since I moved out of Edmonton. Crime can and does happen anywhere. Situational awareness staying in or by groups is a good idea. Don’t be that sitting duck all alone in a dark parking lot. Lloyd has its ‘issues’ for sure. Do your research and know where you’re going. In northern Alberta as well as the mountain parks I’d be more concerned about a bear breaking into your RV.

how do i live in lloydminster and i am hearing about this on your channel lol

Its likely a drugged out transient worker as we have 2 refineries in lloydminster one making ashalt for roads best in the world fyi. Then the big boy upgrader where we make everthing from hydrogen, propane and everthing inbetween with the fractionator taking the crude up to 2000Centigrade. anyway i digress we just had a massive turnaround where they had to refurbish all off them in the last 2months. Lots of out of towners around 5k for a city of 25k that is a lot. however we do have some local skid marks that would totally do this also.

Also we have guns up hear lots of them most are just for hunting i sport my 300mag Weatherby for hunting moose, deer and elk. 12gag shoot guns for clays and bird hunting. All farmers have guns I have never been on a farm without guns.

Canada Day is July 1st. It’s like your July 4th. It’s usually a long weekend and lots of people go camping. Lloyd Minster is right on the Alberta/Saskatchewan border. I always keep the cab doors locked on my class c and have my keys put away. If I’m out of eyesight of my rv it’s locked up. Not sure what I would do if someone came in.

Fear, fear, fear. Don’t drive your RV thru intersections because someone may run a red light. Don’t drive in the rain, the road maybe slick. Don’t drive in populated areas you may get hijacked. Don’t drive in Yellowstone or Glacier because you may be attached by a bear. Yes be aware of your situation but stuff happens no reason to go to extremes. Situational awareness is the key to protecting yourself and property. But you can’t prepare for every possible event that may affect you. Get out and travel enjoy the 95.9% of the places and people you meet. Use your common sense. But don’t be afraid of living life to the fullest.

We’ve learned noy to leave valuables out while camping. We use a cable and lock to secure our grill and propane tanks. Our compartments are locked when we aren’t using them and the Rv is locked whenever we’re away from it.

"The Highway of Tears is a 725-kilometer stretch of Highway 16 in British Columbia, Canada, between Prince George and Prince Rupert. The term was first used in 1998 at a vigil in Terrace for six missing women, and the highway has been unofficially called the Highway of Tears for years. More than 40 people, mostly Indigenous women and girls, have gone missing or been murdered along the route since 1969"

You are right about guns over there not being aloud.
My mom’s cousin who since passed lived over the border of Canada and Detroit and when we went to visit our car was checked for guns and fruit and all. They said no guns were aloud. But I haven’t heard about this story at all. I sure am glad the police officer is ok and I hope the people are ok as well. I think I would be in panic mode if it happened to me. It’s sad it happened. Thank you for the news on this and the video.

As a Canadian, our country has become less safe for an assortment of reasons, many associated with mental illness and the lack of services being provided to those in need of help, due primarily to Government cuts on both a Provincial and Federal level. This situation however sounds like an act of desperation, not a targeted attack on the RV owner. The assailant entered the campground looking to escape law enforcement and panicked which lead to the hijacking’s and subsequent fallout. This could have just as easily been a carjacking had the pursuit happened in a different location. Hoping everyone involved is ok.

IF IN THE US, There would be a sudden mess inside around the driver seat location that ServePro would need to be called to clean up plus maybe some newly formed holes needing attention. If in Canada then the only other option is to say "pretty please stop" or maybe as a last resort a meat cleaver !

That's a tough question 🤔... maybe a Steel Door Frame and Steel Door with Dead Bolts between the Master Bedroom area and the main Coach area. There are separate ESCAPE WINDOW options available in the Bedroom Area. Extreme but might be worth it, especially for Senior Citizens who might have limited abilities to defend themselves inside their own RV or Home. A "CB Radio with a Power MIC" for EMERGENCY Calls-for-help located in the Master Bedroom area also might provide a way of communicating when Cell Signals are weak or not available.

When finished setting up, the keys come out of the ignition switch and go into my pocket. Anytime we go away from the RV it is locked. Also, even when on the move, the door is locked. Not even Usain Bolt can run 60MPH but there are stop signs and traffic lights. Failing that, if necessary, I have other methods of stopping a bad guy 🙂

Nope, I watch two different newscasts every night here in Canada and haven’t heard anything about this. Definitely a rarity that anyone is being hijacked here let alone in a campground. Guns are for hunting and home protection. I’ve camped, travelled and lived all over the world as a single female and the only place I worry about my safety is the US because of the out of control gun situation. The rest of the time, I lock my car and my house, keep valuables safely stowed and stay aware of my surroundings and enjoy life.
