You got yourself what they call a 'weeper'. Happens with this type of shaving. I used the safety razors for a while but eventually went back to harry's. Faster, less cuts and irritation. You have to be very cognizant with safety razor shaving or you'll take a chunk out of your head. I know lol.

This video just showed up in my timeline. As I have been watching different channels about safety razors.

Apparently the Leaf Twig or Thorne. Is a great safety razor for doing head shaves.

The quality of the blade itself is also important. I use Astra superior platinum double edged myself, with good results.

Ever since I switched to a safety razor about a decade ago, it made shaving more enjoyable. I hated using those 5 blade Gillette things.
I have a Rockwell 6S. My first and only safety razor and I don't plan on buying a new one or different brand because this one works so well.
Blades matter a lot. I find that blades by this Japanese company called Feather are the best you can get.
This same company sells a highly rated straight razor, but I don't think I'm ready to venture into that world yet (or ever).

One of the biggest advantages is that you don't have a "lubricating strip" packed with questionable chemicals

I just shaved my head for the first time and as someone who has been using a safety razor to shave my face for the past few years. i do not recommend it for someone shaving their head for the first time. I immediately nicked myself a few times and boy does it sting with conditioner. ended up finishing it off with a multiblade razor and had no problems. might try again when i have more experience. I should add that i think it was just because it was the first time my head had been shaved at all, so all those little bumps were getting scraped.

If you want to make the blades last longer, rinse and use it with cold water.

Iv just tried using a safety razor and it wouldn't cut my hair. I mean at-all. Why? Am I doing something wrong or do I just have too thick hair?

I started shaving my face with a straight razor at 14 as my dad was a barber from the old country so he taught me all he knew about shaving. I have a 4 o'clock shadow by noon and it isn't unusual for me to shave twice a day. When I started shaving my head, a straight razor was tough so I turned to disposables which was costly over time. I now have an extensive collection of safety razors and have been using them for about 20 years. I experiment with different blade and razor combinations, soaps, oils, creams, brushes and after shave splashes and balms. It's sort of became a grooming hobby for me now. Kinda makes it fun and interesting. Hope you enjoy it as well. Shine on!

Walmarts carry these, I’ve had it for over 12+ months and absolutely love this razor. Beard mostly but definitely going to use it for my head. The quality of these razors are phenomenal such high quality and durable.

I've tried various DE razors of the years, and by far the best one (for me) has been the Leaf Thorn. It's super easy to use, and it uses half blades. $60 and you're basically set for life. No need for special blades; you just buy normal blades and snap them in half. So with a $10 pack of 100 standard DE blades, you get a minimum of 200 shaves, which you can stretch even further if you're fine with using the same half-blade more than once. At 1-2 shaves per week, that single pack of blades easily lasts over 2 years.

As a matter of fact, I saw your older video where you suggested using conditioner for shaving, and I've been doing the conditioner + Thorn combo ever since. I'm in and out of the bathroom in 10-15 minutes. Give it a try if you're still searching for options!

Greg Boswell hahaha bro I have the same exact product and had the same exact encounter with the package funny. But I did watch videos before attempting it. What I ran into making me 2nd guess 1st was the shave soap (I use) lather (thicker is better. 2nd is the razor (it's not it it's the included blades). 3rd is the pre shave (shave soap for me has been best with a skin prep of a slight coat of gel or maybe an oil for better lubricity). And for a lather a brush caters to it a ton. The whole experience is based on how pampered and better treated you want your skin to be. The included blades tho suck but once shaving with them they make it more difficult to not get a feel for the right angle. But I researched and found the "Gillette Platinum" blades that are very premium for barely $10 per 100 ct pack on Amazon. The blades are so much sharper and smooth when shaving it made me laugh when paired with a thick lather, that same Van Der Hagen razor, and a shave gel (I use) all paired together. I was like finally that's what the hype is all about and can't wait for my next shaves with the next products for my preferred scents. Anyway I hope this was helpful. Enjoy and have fun!!! It only gets better🤘

As a guy in my 20s I shave everything. I moved to a safety razor and get less ingrown hairs, and a closer shave. The less blade that pokes out the better the shave but the more you need to wash it out.

I've been shaving with a DE for over a decade, partly because it's a lot cheaper but also happy to not be throwing plastic into landfill and squirting aerosols. I've been DIY #1 cropping my hair for about the same length of time but it's coming to the point where I'm considering a full shave but I'm still nervous about the capacity for nicks because of all the different shapes, out of sight, on my head...

Dude, I been using that exact same razor for years on my face and neck with shaving cream for years. I’ve recently decided to shave my head and used that razor with shaving cream. It was ok but had irritation. I saw your video about conditioner and that is a complete game changer. I no longer use shaving cream and use conditioner on my head and face and neck with that exact razor. Awesome results. No irritation. Thanks so much for the tip about conditioner. That safety razor is awesome combined with conditioner.

DE razors are definitely worth for a try to see if you can get on with them. Economically sustainable, cheap as chips, and above all close as hell in the right hands. When you're on point with them they beat anything else hands down in terms of closeness. Time spent using a DE is my only issue, so I use a leaf as my daily (beyond amazing!), and a DE at weekends when I have luxury time for the best head shave out there. Be sure to get the right blade for you though (leaf or DE). I use Astra's or feathers. The leaf blades that shipped with it are frankly shat which made for a bad first experience. Sorting the blades out paved the way for the DE for me.

Top of head is the easy bit, one pass.. - the test is the rear of the head /sides and getting that baby smooth without endless passes. Have tried disposable with different gels and soaps and arko with a brush has won out, improves things.

I started out on a safety razon in my teens back in the late 60's. I had a Gillete adjustable razor back then. I kept using it though the late 70's when it just got to difficult to find the blades. As soon as I discovered that the razors and blades were available I went back to them.

The Henson AL13 is the best DE head shaver of all safety razors. The Henson AL13 is a DE safety razor that is smooth and nearly impossible to cut yourself with. It is safer than any DE safety razor and it shaves more efficiently than a cartridge razor. Anyone that is coming from cartridge razors should own one.

You are KINGSIZE Master of Headshave!
Of COURSE it takes longer!
Don't EVER dare to shave your head with that razor in a hurry!
I still have my Father's old Gillette razor (1960's!!!). I use it for my head with the custom Wilkinson blades.
In case you have bald pattern areas on your head, be careful THERE!
And, YES, thanks to your advice, I use moisturizer since about a year! When I discovered your channel, which is a GIFT to every sensual, philosophically thinking human being!

THANK YOU FOR YOUR REFLECTIVE AND THOUGHTFUL VIDEOS!
And definitely for your headshave advices!

I'm gonna keep using my Braun series 9 for the head as it's super quick, shaves very close and I get 0 irritation, but I recently bought a safety razor for my facial hair, as the Braun doesn't do a good job in the area underneith the chin and on the throat. Bought a pack of 200(!) Astra Superior Platinum blades for 16€, which equals to the price of 4 blades for the old Gilette ProGlive I've been using for my facial hair before. I think it's much more economical than disposable razors or multi-blade razors.

I've been using a double edge Mühle razor for 4 years now and it makes for a nice shave. The occasional nick is common though. I just switched over to my leaf razor again, after loading it with 2 feather blades. The result was insanely good and without any irritation. Prior i used Astra blades in it and with those it was inferior to the DE, but feather was to harsh in the DE, does wonders in the leaf though.

I've been using my Gillette 1912 de for years now. I also use conditioner to shave. I use the dorco301 blades which cost hardly anything. In my experience I've discovered that the secret to a good shave is in the preparation. Nothing fancy but I wash my head then apply the conditioner then shaving is like cutting through butter. I shave about every three days and the hairs absorb more water and conditioner so they're softer and easier to shave. I don't make a big deal over it but takes me about 10 minutes to do the job.
