LG UltraGear Gaming Monitor 27GP850-B.AED 2023 model does not tell me the HDMI. The 2021 model LG UltraGear Gaming Monitor 27GP850-B has 1.4. I looked everywhere and can't find out if the 2023 model uses HDMI 2.0. Is is safe to assume that if it does not mention the number on HDMI, that it's automatically 2.0 and not 2.1 or 1.4??

Thanks god for you guys, I think my monitor might be dying and was dreading sitting through a bunch of monitor reviews and lists from people I have never heard of. First search I do and I find the people I know I can trust have done exactly what I was hoping for

Thanks. Unfortunately Alienware doesn't sell 175hz version for some reason in EU. Also I have found Neo G9 for 1100 so decided that would be better option. But still trying to understand why Windows desktop hdr is so dark...

Always appreciate your EU specific videos, especially this time since I'm still looking for a 34" monitor, but after watching I'm left kinda disappointed. It seems like there aren't any 34" ultrawide monitors, suitable for my use case of light gaming, creative work and programming/ office work since you don't recommend QD-OLED monitors for office work...
I'm looking at the ASUS ProArt PA348CGV and AOC Agon Pro AG344UXM, but neither of them has any in dept reviews, so I'm really unsure...

Thanks for considering the European market!

I’m looking to build a new gaming PC, and I’m considering which monitor to get. I’d love to have one monitor for both gaming and work, but I can’t decide which to go for. I’ve been spoiled by my OLED TV with consoles, but an OLED for coding all day probably isn’t great. Any thoughts or suggestions? I’d really love one for both use cases, but it doesn’t seem easy to find. I just don’t know if I can go back to gaming on a non-OLED, as stupid as that sounds.

I Gave the video a like strictly based on the focus on EU. Appreciate the effort very much as someone, who has spent a couple of days cross referencing multiple sources (videos, webpages etc.) all of them focused on the US market. It is really hard to pick a monitor using stats in the retail stores, they really don't mean that much. SO THANK YOU FOR THIS!!

What do you think about the Asus ROG PG27UQR? As one of my monitors is currently about to die, I was thinking of buying this one twice (as I like identical monitors) for working (software engineering) and gaming (primarily world of Warcraft).

Dude stop it with the OLEDs. The caveats of "burn-in and bad text" are such massive deal breakers that OLEDs need to be in their OWN category separate from practical monitors.

Great video, as always. I have an, admittedly very nieche, question: do you have any recommendations for 24" 1440p displays (based in EUW) for a casual FPS gamer (focus on low input lag/latency)? I am currently looking at the AOC Q24G2A/BK, but am unsure, because there are so few 24" 1440p displays on the market.

I'm in the last phase of my upgrade cycle and am looking at replacing my 1080p 170hz monitor. I now have an rtx 4080 paired with a ryzen7 7700x cpu. Trying to decide if I should go with a 1440p 240hz or a 4k 170hz monitor. I primarily play COD, so the high refresh rate is very appealing to me. But I do also enjoy playing AAA single player titles (CP2077, Starfield, Alan Wake2, etc.) So that's the argument for 4k. I probably spend 2/3 of my time playing COD and the remaining time playing single player games. Is 4k worth sacrificing the higher refresh rate?

@nhecos2998 - 02.12.2023 19:46

A use-case for going with a 1080p monitor in 2023, aside from refresh-rate and price, is that you have more margin to go "ultra settings" in the most demanding games (specially featuring ray tracing) and still get 60fps or above performance without compromising image quality because it's the panel's native resolution.
Also, depending on how close you are to the screen and its size, just for gaming it may not make much sense to get anything higher. Personally I user a dual-monitor setup with a low-refresh rate high resolution and color accurate monitor for production, and a smaller 24" 1080p high-refresh rate one for gaming.

I am not sure if any 1080p monitor could beat the Philips 24M1N3200ZS/00 I bought for 700 DKK (25 % VAT) when you consider the price. It was also a black week deal.
Edit: I think it uses the same panel as the AOC you recommended, at least the spec is very much similar. The AOC was bit lower than 1000 DKK during black week.
