Banning sleep outright is also bad for a few reasons, like a lot of pokemon who actually use rest for recovery not being able to use it, but it not being limited I'd obviously worse. I'd also rather have more reliable options to shut down some major threats for at least one or two turns. This is why I prefer some kind of a middle ground - like the sleep clause.

Back when i didn't know what i was doing. National dex still had dynamax unbanned. So much fun destroying low ladder with Weakness Policy Autotomize Celesteela. Wouldn't be uncommon to end a game with +4 Attack +2 Speed +Special attack +2 defense and +1 special defense because Max Quake and Steelspike were so broken.

You know the power creep is insane when the generation’s mechanic gets sent to AG, the highest banlist of them all. The banlist created in response to Mega Rayquaza being so OP that not even Ubers, the banlist that existed from the beginning to contain monsters like Mewtwo, the Weather Trio, Garchomp, and Wobuffet.

I personally don't think arena trap is too op. 2 entire types are immune, plus every levitate Pokemon. I could understand banning if like, Garchomp got it, but Dugtrio is pretty weak, so you can only really use it to remove weakened Pokemon it's super effective against.

i really wish there were less people in the competitive community so a group of people could collectively agree to fudge usage stats and get like wooper to ou just because it’d be funny

The sleep and frozen statuses are anticompetitive and antifun. They should both be reworked. I'd personally change it so that sleep heals the sleeping Pokemon, and they wake up whenever they get hit or switch out.

Quick note, if you're going to ban sleep, you might as well ban burn, paralysis, freezing, confusion, and other status conditions/interferences. Banning sleep entirely is a minority position for a reason. We banned evasion moves and put in the sleep clause, that should be where the line gets drawn in terms of 'taking out' mechanics.

I just feel that this generation of singles is not going to be played a lot in the future, I just don't see value out of the most modern generations, it gen 7 with less pokemon, because of the ban of dynamax and the absence of new gameplay gimmicks like other generations

Smogons makes good decision, except removing nat Dex ag

Idk removing king's Rock is like removing critical hits or banning togekiss. "Luck" is an inherent part of the game. But I'm glad my favorite mon had his moment in the sun.

Casual very late nitpick, but Zygarde was not in fact banned prior to gen 7. It was actually a very mediocre mon in gen 6 due to not having power construct.

Probably the generation of buffs and drastic meta shifts before it settled down to similar to Gen 7 Ou.

Un-related to video but I wish there was a oubl tier, it would be perfect for mons that are too good for ou but too bad for Ubers, it would of been great in gen 8 for Pokemon like Lugia and cinderace etc, and it probably would be good for gen 9 as well, tho I doubt it will happen, but maybe if I inhale a lot of copium it could one day.
