my opinion: MH is just analogue horror, not an arg.

A theory I've had about Alex is that his motivations changed a lot throughout Season 2. I think that after he "fed" the Marble Hornets cast to the Operator, he genuinely believed it would be satiated, and for a time, it probably was. I think he was able to begin living a "normal" life with Amy until she discovered his old camera. So he sent for Jay. I think he genuinely wanted help finding Amy, but had no real idea what to do, and also getting Jay's help wouldn't work if he told Jay he was responsible for what was happening. Then, after the Entry where he goes to Rosswood and slowly approaches the Operator, I think that is where he began falling more under its "control" (proxies don't officially exist in Marble Hornets, but Alex's behavior was warped more consistently than the others). Even then, I don't think he immediately wanted to kill Jay. In Entry 49, he mutters to himself "don't follow me", which I took to mean that he knew what the Operator was doing to him and was helpless to stop it. Not unlike an addict. And as Alex said when he pulled the gun on Jessica and Jay, "I've had plenty of chances to do this". The white shirted man that he killed in the tunnel was probably the turning point where Alex became truly irredeemable.

Is that comic truly canon if it was made after THAC broke up? Unless it was written with both of their inputs under some sort of mutual cooperation.
Edit: google'd, yeah it's only officially written by Troy. Troy is honestly kinda sad, he can't make anything nearly as impactful as MH was without Joseph, who he threw under the bus. So here he is trying to peddle more MH stuff instead.

Ik this video is getting old as it was posted 2 years ago when I’m writing this but I think I have a small theory. This is just a fan theory, do not come after me bc I’ll be honest I haven’t watched Tribe12 and it’s connected to it as well as Marble Hornets and a movie I don’t think was mentioned but is called Always Watching (It’s super good I love it sm)

In Always Watching, one of the main characters is a man named Milo (keep this in mind) who’s a film man for a small news station. He works with two his coworkers to figure out what happened to a family who mysteriously disappeared in practically thin air. The family left a box of tapes revealing that the father got a camera from a garage sale, sold to him by a COLLEGE FILM STUDENT, and documented his slow fall to insanity as he and his family became overwhelmed with the Slender sickness. Milo and his two coworkers eventually die trying to get rid of Slenderman.

NOW- At around minute 54, it’s briefly mentioned that the main person behind Tribe12 was looking into the sudden death of his cousin Milo. Could it be possible that the family in AW caught the sickness from Jay, Tim, and them and then passed it to Milo and his coworkers, who then passed it to Tribe12??

AGAIN this is just a theory I had, if anyone wants to add onto it plz do!! This is genuinely so interesting to me!!

EDIT!!!!:
Okay so Always Watching WAS mentioned and it had a whole segment, my bad 😍

Not having been involved in any of the fandom, I had no idea that the masked characters were referred to as "Hoodie" and "Masky". These nicknames makes them 1000% less scary and lame... I'm just glad I didn't find that out until after I watched everything!

fact Is most people Who analyze Marble hornets fail to analyze its horror .
It's all about the losing of one's self the inhability to live and thrive ,being unable to trust your mind .
That's why i think they even fail to understand the protagonists:
Alex was as much of a victim as everyone ,he had constant laps in Memories , schizophrenia episodes (like we can see in the times they were filming Marble hornets)as masky and the entire ark had ,then managed to get back on his feet just for his wife to disappear, After which he calls the friend he had given the tapes to for help .
And i think at the start he truly wanted help ,but in the forest the operator Simply got him (Just like what happened to Jay at the end ,to hoodie/brian and Also probably the third person/Seth of the ark)
We can see this from how he begins Spitting Blood telling lies reporting to violence and being aggravated ,all of these while having to deal with the members of the ark torturing him(hoodie had become clearly taken by the infection , he attacks Jay,uses Tim like a dog and then faults him for being a “liar”, in ways very similar to how Alex acted Just more creepily sadistic) while a mind demon controlled his mind ,Memories, psyche and understanding of reality.
Then wr go to jay ,
Many refer to him “as curiosity kills the cat ”
Yet none of them remembers why he investigates , what happened to him and what would have happened if he didn't.
1.
If your friend went missing and a demon was in his tapes what would you do once it begins affecting your psyche while being chased by psychopaths ?
Simply allow it or go against with all you have while trying to find the cast or a resolution?
2. After season two i find people instead asking :why didn't he stop and return to a normal life?
Well he tried ...
Alex though had finally shown himself to be alive and jay found him ..
But then suddently the question becomes even dumber when you realize jay has lost 7 months of his life ...
He doesn't have friends ,home, a job , a safe place .
His only reality at that point is the operator ,his blog and the empty hotel where to the ark hides..
What would you do then remain at the hotel?
Ignore it and move to a new home with your nonexistent money?
Abandon it all and wait for to the ark ,alex or the operator to get you?
At that point jay had even less of a chance than alex and those of to the ark ,he had nothing ,and without an history of mental problems he couldn't even fall back on that ,
He was alone .
His only chance was answers and help which he had found in tim and even could have in jessica if wasn't for hoodie and mainly the operator.
3. Before youtry and say .
He shouldn't have investigated ,i'd like to remind you of three things
1. “Alex” knew where he lived ,so even if he didn't watch the tapes ,that would have been a rap

2. the operator affected jessica who never watched the tapes.
3. If the two previous points weren't enough ,to the ark also was searching for the tapes ,so again that's another rap..
So it wasn't curiosity that killed the cat .
It was a group of heavily damaged souls and a mind demon capable of teleporting you around and many friend who he still needed like jessica and tim and at the start even alex .

I didn’t watch Marble Hornets when it originally came out, and I can say with the freshest-possible eyes that this web series, or whatever you want to call it, has so many glaring problems it’s almost unwatchable at times.
There are some very good aspects, though. Some of the more artistic choices were great. Glitching scenes, and that sort of thing. The operator looked pretty creepy and was done well.
The straight forward horror elements, dialogue choices, plot and narrative, etc. are laughably bad at times.
They don’t make it clear whether Jessica or Jay are dead. They don’t make it clear where the operator transports his prey, and how they come back from it. They don’t make it clear what everyone’s motivations are. But especially everyone. No character in the film has a clear or reasonable motivation to do half of the things they do.
Best example is the operator. His influence half of the time causes people to do what you’d expect he’d not want to happen. Like Alex wanting to kill everyone who is under the operator’s influence. Or why the operator assists Alex and not Tim in the final fight scene. Tim has a much more useful disposition for the operator than Alex.
It’s never clear how the operator influences people, or why Tim’s medicine works for him, or for everyone. Never even alludes to why Tim’s medicine is working for Jessica at the end but no longer working for him.
Some of the scenes don’t move the plot forward in anyway. Some extremely long scenes, at that.
Characters’ decisions sometimes go far beyond what I’m willing to suspend disbelief for considering their characters are supposed to be every day people. Nobody with an ounce of intelligence is going to try to find Alex knowing he has a gun, unless they also have at least a gun.
