With regards to Don Pettit, He's an older chap and as such was probably instructed not to try and sit up. He was conscious and moving his hands. The Russians presumably wanted to preserve his dignity and told the cameras not to film because it looks worse than it is. Most 70 year old would not cope well after being weightless for 6 months and must be treated especially carefully on their return. It is almost unknown territory and only a few astronauts this old ever flew before and none for 6 months. Best regards.😊
