I love horror films. What's your favorite horror movie moment?

No matter how many times I looked back to watch it I still got that tingle through out my body

The scary part is, after watching so many horror movies , following so many paranormal documentaries and unsolved mystries, When I actually see something realistic , simple and clean it scares me. Like maybe one day I will be going to a new place and some lady will come walking like this. 😂😂😂

Might just be me, but I didn’t find it scary. I don’t want to sound different or anything, it’s just the way she walked was kinda dumb. Not saying I wouldn’t be scared if I saw this in real life or anything. I feel like it would need to watch the film to experience the true horror of this scene.

The first half of this film is some of tge scariest stuff to ever hit the screen
The second half just sort of derails into this big apocalypse. When its localised and in a small area is when its scariest

They did a great job with her movement. From the actress walking like an entity that’s trying to mimic human movement, to the editing and lighting. What a great scene…

"Very scary ghost" well I couldn't see shit. Wasn't there a possibility to turn up the lighting a bit there was probably one screen where I could see what was going on I'm going to continue watching resident evil which are actually good, thoughtfull and heady movies. Very disappointing

I had a nightmare about this movie when I went to bed, I was walking home from school. I get to the apartment area (I live in a house in a neighborhood) and I look around. There's a fluorescent light that's glowing a greenish-yellow but it still pretty dark. I see the woman walk out the shadow and we stare at each other for a few slowed down moments before she starts walking towards me. I run towards the elevator but it's not coming and she's blocking the stairs. I start screaming and crying, I'm hitting on the door. She's getting closer and closer and I can't run. I collapse in fear heaving and sobbing and begging her not to hurt me. She stands over me, I look up and I'm awake. My mom is over me, which scares me all over again. Apparently I had screamed and cried in my sleep. It was the most vivid nightmare I've ever had. I did not go back to sleep.

Does anyone else have other examples of movies (short films, videogames, anything really) that have moments like this? Horror movies are getting a bit stale and they rarely if ever have moments that actually creep me out like this. Like there's tons of horror movies I love, but stuff like this legitimately scares me.

I'm sorry i just can't take that walking scene seriously it looks too much like someone trying to walk across a room barefoot with a bunch of legos on the floor its too funny

she wobbles as if she's a force beyond a human, like a demon puppeteering a human form to lure souls towards it

I think that directors like Ari Aster are starting to pick up on things like this. Themes like the uncanny valley, a built up tension, and even a lack of jump scares compared to other films, his movies are genuinely scary and I think that’s what he’s going for.

So it's not the scariest scene, never trust when they say the scariest scene or movie or whatever, cause it's not , clickbait as always, movies ain't scary anymore, tbh the never really were, American or asian or wherever they come from

In my opinion, I didn't find this scene creepy at all. It just looked really goofy and weird. Not scary.

I saw this video in my suggested and I decided to watch the whole movie first. Then I finished the movie and had to go back to this video to understand what scene you were talking about.
Like this whole movie ain't even horror, it could've been a great philosofical movie about the isolation we tend to live in if only the dialogues weren't so bad. I don't know if they were made intentionally like so to emphasize the inability to communicate between us and therefore break away from our isolation but some dialogues literally make no sense at all.
Then I don't know if its my screen or if the movie's actually that dark but during this scene I could barely see anything, especially in the last part where its supposed to show the ghost's face; i literally can't see it bruh it's just a dark screen and then the guy starts screaming for some reasons.
I kinda want to give this kurosawa another chance though, does anyone know any movies from him better than this one?

You pointed out the human qualities are portions that added to the scene in regards to the figure. What you should take into account is that may be location based fear. People don’t scare me in film. Not at all. But if someone were to make a found footage film where the person just walks through the woods for 2 hours and label it a horror film, I would experience tense fear for every second I watched. Anticipation, studying the background. No music, just noise. No need for jump scares. Just relying on my psyche. But I was raised rurally, deep in woodlands. You learn to fear that environment when you have been stalked by a predator or even attacked. The woods are mundane to those in the city, monsters within seem campy or b rated to them. Not to me. They represent the tension. Is there a predator in the shadows? Why are the birds so silent here? Even simple branches cracking can send me into a frenzy still. But this scene? Did not a thing for me.

I've seen my fair share of maby different horror movies and I do not scare or get jumpscared easily. When she started walking I got this almost primal fear that I can't describe well enough. I froze.

haven't finished the video bc I just saw the scene for the first time and that was horrifying. It's the unnatural movement for me, as if something looks human but is failing to pose itself as a human being. The staggering like it's getting use to it's new body as it approaches you seemingly in slow motion, it's every childhood nightmare come to life.

Just finished watching this movie and yeah this scene was great, but Holy shit what a boring nonsensical slog of a movie this is, Jesus. I legitimately feel like I've just wasted 2 hours of my life.

Shutter was another movie that really gave me a sense of dread through out the film.

This scene made me burst off laughing the first time i watched this movie. It was scary till she walked. Lol

the way she stumbles yet starts walking again i feel like enforces the fact that she had a target and would not let anything stop her. you feel like she is hunting you. also, the stumble sort of resembles that of a pounce as well which further implies that she is a predator. plus, the fact she walks slowly suggests she knows she doesnt need to be fast, she will get you no matter what you do. she doesnt need to be aggressive, yet you know she will still can kill you. this overall just makes you feel like she is a hunter, and you are her target. then mixed with the fact she moves in an unnatural manner makes it all the more eerie as you question what she really is. however, the fact that even though you can tell she isnt truly human, she is still very human-like. this makes this scene all the more real and more possible to actually occur. therefore you feel as though this could happen to you which makes it all the more unnerving. finally, as mentioned in the video, the fact that everything is focused on the ghost, with no camera movements, no disruptive sounds, so distractions, makes you realise that you can not escape from the inevitable, increasing tension through the scene, which is then briefly cut by her stumble, but then re-ensures as she starts walking towards the camera again. this scene is honestly beautiful. very well made.

This isn't scary

I can't. I just can't deal with this scene. In that guy place, I would run in her direction asking if she's ok after that "crouching".

I'm not sure about anyone else, but the pinkish color of her legs in the light really ruins this scene from me. It looks TOO human, to the point where it feels stupid. I'm reminded that this is an actor, not an actual ghost. Its like horror from the 1950s or 1960s. It doesn't matter how well done it is, when viewed later it just isn't scary.

Instead of scary, these scene feels campy and lame, despite the stellar style choices and cinematography
