As a georgian who is very close to Lanier, its history is just terrible. Rest in peace to all the people who have ever lost their lives.

I’m currently reading a book titled Blood at the Root A racial cleansing in America. It’s based off of the true events of Oscarville,GA. It’s truly sad and disturbing what those people did to the people of that town. Most of that area was stolen and people still profit from it today.

Attention spoiler!

Pfff

I've attended funerals on two separate occasions. Both were accident-related drownings and both victims were under the age of 15. I live near the lake and have visited hundreds of times, and have never experienced anything unusual. However, the lake is extremely crowded during the summer. Lots and lots of drinking while boating takes place. It's honestly a recipe for disaster. I know the history of the lake very well, and I firmly believe in the paranormal. But in my humble opinion, the majority of fatalities that take place are explainable. And avoidable. As with anything in life, use good judgment and common sense. Be responsible, understand and respect the dangers, and you will most likely have a lot of fun there.

My high school-aged children were not allowed to go to lake Lanier on school outings. Early 80s, I explained to the school and they blankly stared at me as if I were making up a story of Oscarville.
The HISTORY must be told.
