Black & Decker never makes its own microwave oven. It just puts its brand name on a GLANZ microwave.

When I lived in France, I learned you can actually boil sponges periodically to get rid of the "gunk".

Great episode! I learned a lot. I have a trip to the store in my future. By the way I’ve used Barkeepers Friend for decades it’s my best friend.

Bar keepers friend is mostly an American thing. Be good to have a European test kitchen as my new stainless set is annoying me as it's covered in stains (not food)

Nothing beats bleach for disinfecting. Dilute and rinse. Used in bars for decades. No need to wash most glasses.

I loved when Lisa said, "if you know you know" about Barkeeper's friend lol

Any tips for keeping a gas range and the plates over it clean? So much stuff falls into them and mine are chipping

Bar Keeper’s Friend have outstanding products, but you haven’t seen your sink shine until you’ve tried The Pink Stuff! It has quartz pumice, microscopic jagged stone crystals that peel away schmo and oxidation, leaving sinks and appliances looking brand new. ✨💖

My favourite tool to clean cookware, dishware, and cutlery in the kitchen is the dishwasher.

Loading it correctly, not overfilling it; and just using a cheap box of powdered detergent will go a long way.

I put my sponge in a holder that puts it raised up on its side and has a water catchment below. This means the sponge dries out halting bacterial growth. Once a month, or if my sponge gets left in the water, I toss it into the top shelf of the dishwasher -- comes out clean and fresh every time. I know people don't like plastic cutting boards, but putting them in the dishwash is so much safer.

You realize your plastic scrub brushes and sponges are derived from petroleum? Also the plastic bin you used for your wooden spoons. DONT YOU CARE ABOUT MOTHER EARTH?!

I feel like you should test more products to have a better sample to choose a winner of. Picking only 9 products to test isn’t really a representative sample.

Cool video, but the science explanations for the soaps are not accurate and the math was just stupid and wrong. Yes, 8 is 57% of 14 but that’s not the difference, it is literally the opposite of the difference.

I'd like to see the use of things like certain Norwegian microfiber cleaning cloths. I don't sell them, really! But I use them and when I go to someone's house now, I notice the smell of cleaning products. I used to think that could be a clean smell but now I think it's a chemical smell. But I'd like to see someone do some real tests of the cloths. Is the same level of bacteria picked up with microfiber cloths and water as with cleaning solutions that contain surfactants? If you reuse the silver-infused cloths for several days, is the growth of pathogens really being inhibited? I'd test that by squeezing water out of one and testing the water. I like my cloths and my kitchen is truly shiny every night, and the cloths I use in the bathroom (usually the kitchen cloths before I wash them) really shine the bathroom. I like not using chemicals, so I'd appreciate seeing that type of cloth being tested in your kitchens.

Some of my fav hacks are using that cheap plastic soap dish (which is unhelpful, bc the bar soap still sits in water) and filling it w a pile of baking soda, setting it next to the faucet so that while I'm scrubbing dishes I can simply pat the sponge down into it for some extra muscle.

I also keep my vinegar in a spray bottle so I can braise meat while cooking, or add a well dispersed bit of flavor to a dish but this trick works fabulously if I dust a dirty, super greasy pan w baking soda & simply spray the vinegar for some foaming action.

Also, most things that come in a bottle, like hydrogen peroxide or rubbing alcohol, & especially the bottle of mineral oil they have a seal over the top- I simply take a push pin to make a tiny whole in that seal (front & center w the label, or if it's a flip top, in the center of the hole) this really saves the product as well as keeps these items disaster proof if your kids are mesmerized w watching the substance pour out (like the ketchup) and fail to register they are creating a lake of it, on their plates.

About Mineral Oil
I've seen wood workers test out different wood oils to protect wooden kitchen utensils. Turns out, mineral oil wasn't that great. When it tried, it left a residue that didn't "dry hard". Instead, they tended to recommend a oils with a tung oil base. Tung oil is natural, food safe, makes the wood really pretty, and "dries hard" to protect the wood from water damage. One man tested this by boiling wooden spoons for 5 minutes. The tung oil protected the wooden spoons the best.

Mineral oil is from petroleum which is same as oil in your car.
Is there a healthy (and better for the earth) alternative oil for wood utensils?
