Games development: increasing role of academic institutions

Having watched "Insert Coin", the documentary on Midway/Williams Games (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt11916218/, https://vimeo.com/search/ondemand?q=insert+coin [select On Demand]), I thought back to when I was a faculty member at DePaul CTI (now CDM), over 15 years ago, where I organized and sponsored a discussion on games development.

Jacek "Jack" Brzezinski handled all interface with panelists from the participating companies.

Noriko Tomuro designed and created handouts and coordinated events.

Donna Grant was the M.C.

I apologize for the poor camerawork. I didn't realize until after the fact that the assigned student wasn't working out.

The above quote is a condensed version of what Matt Booty said.

In attendance were:
Midway Games
Matt Booty - VP Product Development
(now Microsoft VP and head of XBox Game Studios)
Martin Murphy - Director of Art Technology
Joel - Technical Director

Microsoft Games
Jo & Chris - a fascinating and beautiful husband and wife team (I think her position was actually higher than his when they came back the next year)

Volition (https://www.dsvolition.com)
Mark - Technical Director (being based in Champaign, IL, the "weak" programming applicants were probably actually from a top ten engineering school - UIUC)
