For the context: during WWII every third belarusian died. It's a huge national tradegy of our people. That's why we made probably the most anti-war movie in the cinema history

This movie is so insanely terrifying. It’s also so well made that it’s actually insane, one of the best movies I have ever seen.

I think the scene that got me the most is after the german commander or whatever looks through the barn's window and goes "climb up here and you're free, but leave the children behind". A woman goes to climb with her baby, only for a soldier to grab the baby by the leg and just toss it back inside the barn like it's some piece of garbage. That moment in particular stayed with me. The entire scene at the barn is just pure nightmare fuel, and god, Fiora's face throughout all of it

It’s a war movie the fact that it’s so intense is for anyone that hasn’t truly been in war! There’s pet hat live every day with this bs going on beside them maybe we should make wars about what’s going on now! That would surely blow minds.

Watched this movie and it is just another foreign language film. Movies like Saving Ryan, Schindlers List, Platoon and Black Hawk Down contain more depth in my opinion.

For a background on that girl, after the Germans burnt her entire village, they said if you give us the children will let you go her being a child, the past her through the window with a small child, maybe four years old maybe younger they threw the four-year-old back through the window while she was clinging to him, crying and screaming and then they threw a grenade through the window. It didn’t kill everyone then they started shooting at the barn, and then they hit it with flamethrowers after the flame throwers the screaming eventually died down. They dragged her by her hair and then pulled her into the back of a truck while other men were trying to grab her out of the truck, not trying to save her. The people in the truck kicked the other people off, it was disgusting

For me the opening scene is what impressed me the most, with hindsight. An old man who has lived trough all this already telling the boys not to dig, in the sand or in the past.
They don't listen to him. A movie that makes war uncomfortable and miserable, as it should be.

I seen this movie a couple years ago and being honest, it wasn't really that good to me. It was slow, slower than Das Boot and that movie is 5 hours long. The characters aren't unique and if you've watched a lot of foreign WW2 movies like I have you'll see the same acts and brutality. Wanna watch a good WW2 movie? "City of Life and Death"...good luck....

For context, it is very important that the leading actor, Alexey Kravchenko, today is an ardent supporter of the aggressive and genocidal war against Ukraine, the destruction of the Ukrainian people. This movie is terrible, but everyone sees what they want in it.

if you watch this movie it can leave a sort of temporary Trauma. i used to act. to portray anger rage love happiness and sorrow is difficult to master. the realities are that we look into ourselves in the past and remember the trauma which can trigger you in to the emotional facial expressions and sound of your voice just in like this movie to schock and scare the audience. My point is this movie had me in tears for hours after it ended. Im from Nyc i saw heard and smelled the act of terror at age 11, 2 milles north of GZ. ive seen people get serverly brutalized in front of me and on the internet. the movie made me understand trauma so well that if in a play for example that i was required to express tears of rage i thought of my trauma of terror and brutality. Im a 6ft5in 260 pound man. real life can get "REALLY REAL REALLY FAST". if you haven't seen "Приди и посмотри" do yourself a favor turn your phones off and watch alone. Im a big guy but it turned me into a crying child.

The reason this film is so disturbing is because it’s true - mostly based on the anti partisan campaign of the SS and the notorious DIRLWANGER brigade . Oskar DIRLWANGER Officer In Charge convicted child molester but Hitler needed soldiers ANY soldiers to replace the Wehrmacht experienced ones he and Himmler released all the German convicted murderers child molesters and rapists and assigned them solider duties in the DIRLWANGER brigade . They were so evil the regular Wehrmacht and SS kept them at a distance . They were eager participants in squelching the Warsaw Ghetto uprising of 1944. They murdered children and mental incompetents by the thousands in hospitals the dead bodies were stacked past two stories . 💀🔥😢🤮

To talk about this movie while completely omitting the soviet propaganda side of the things is complete madness and defacto another history rewritting. Good job, tards. Its also hilarious how you cannot truly talk about this movie without talking about Ehrenburg, and thats also a bit scary.

If you want to find out why wars are fought all of you should read
Smedley Darlington Buthler book „War is a Racket“ and stop trusting your government.

"the girl" at the beginning is Flyora's friend Glasha, seen through the entire movie. Indeed the buzzing after the artillery comes in is right on, if it has ever happened to you... but the academic dissecting of this film is too weird, the film leaves little to be imagined, unless you are trying to pass a class about movies. Anti war is the worst of cliches. What are you trying to say? war is bad? that is really going out on a limb. The greatest lesson of this film is what the German Army [not just SS] did in Russia, Poland, any were they were [not just Beloruss] An amazing terrible surrealistic movie

I found this comment under another video about this movie. And I want to share it because it perfectly articulated my thoughts.

"While I appreciate that so many people enjoy this as a film, it really is more than that. It’s more than a cinephile talking point. It’s more than “the best horror movie ever” or “the most disturbing depressing movie ever”. This film was a statement. A reminder of real history. This was Klimov’s way of de-romanticizing / caricaturing Nazis, as the tradition had been in Hollywood. 27 million people died in the USSR during the war, compared to 400,000 US soldiers in both the Atlantic and Pacific theaters combined. The sheer terror of Nazi occupation in the East is something no one in the west can really understand. The stats are clear on the treatment of prisoners and citizens between the two halves of Nazi occupied Europe - the Nazis sought to eradicate the Slavic peoples - Vernichtungskreig, a war of annihilation. The Dirlewanger Brigade was just one group that unleashed this kind of obscene genocide on the people in the East."
