kI think mostly we're just all sick and tired of having to buy a new motherboard and everything on it just because they can't decide on a final cpu socket to end all cpu sockets. Really, why should you buy the same ethernet controller, sound chip, sata controller, etc... over and over and over again with each new motherboard. Get it right AMD and Intel.

This naming convention was initially made obsolete with the introduction of Zen based Athlons. It completely negated the need, not only for Ryzen 3, but also for the 4C/8T Ryzen 3. AMD completely missed the boat with the introduction of Zen 2.

With the introduction of Zen 2, only the 16C/32T processor should have been R9, the 12C/24T processors should have been R7, the 8C/16T R5, and the 6C/12T processors R3.

All lesser processors with SMT could have then been Athlons, while those without SMT could have been Duron/Sempron. Athlon and Duron/Sempron variants without integrated graphics could have been made available, with a g suffix indicating integrated graphics.

To simplify things, AMD could have had two or more variants of the I/O die, one with and one without integrated graphics. Then the only difference between the g variants and the non-g variants could have been the I/O die.

I have an HP 14 with ryzen3 and AMD RADEON graphics. I play high -end games like asphalt 9 and venge io and i bareley get any lag spikes.

my laptop came standard w/ ryzen 3 w/ radeon vega graphics, & i absolutely love it. it works really well w/ gaming & streaming/recording in 768p.
