I live in Portland & I've probably been to about 10 of the nearest record stores but it seems like no matter how many I go to I never end up liking them much with the exception of the 1st. The 1st I went to has been the only 1 I've ever returned to & if I go to another, I always end up wishing I'd gone there instead. IDK if it's just because it was the 1st so it's like a nostalgia thing, a comfort thing, or I'm just picky? Has this happened to anyone else?

You should go to my hometown Memphis Tennessee and go check out a super cool vinyl store called Gonner Records

Also, 2nd Avenue Records sells used classical records for $3 a disc, if that's your thing, and they've got some really great stuff.

Music Millenium, Clinton St Records, Tomorrow Records, Little Axe Records, Mississippi, and Dig are far superior in PDX.

If you ever get the chance to stop in Wisconsin. They have many record stores scattered all over the state. The two that come to mind to stop at is The Exclusive Company and Deaf Ear Records. Exclusive Company scattered all over Wisconsin it's the oldest Independent Record store in Wisconsin and open up in 1956. Deaf Ear Records has been around since the seventies. Both great place to stop by if you ever take a trip to Wisconsin.

Great video, Matt! Loved seeing some Oregonian gems! I feel like the CA Bay Area could be a great series (maybe even two part series) for the channel. Would love to dig with ya the next time you find yourself in Northern California.

Portland shops to check out:

1. Landfill Rescue Unit (on SE Belmont)
2. Tomorrow Records (on SE Hawthorne)
3. Jackpot Records (on SE Hawthorne)

These shops are in the same part of town and only minutes from each other. They're also small (like Final Form & 2nd Ave.) and have lots of used/out-of-print vinyl.

Next up for you should be a weekend trip to Seattle. Good vinyl shops up there, too -- they're just more spread out.

Seattle:
Easy Street
Silver Platters
Everyday Music (yep...they're up there, too)
And so much more!

Awesome video! Thanks for giving me my first look (virtual though it is) at EM's downtown location since they had to compact their two spaces into one. Good to see the store's still packed - can't wait to get back there and to Powell's! I was just up in PDX a couple weeks ago myself and strafed EM Sandy and MM, though I was more in a CD mode. You need to pop down to Eugene and check out House of Records soon if you haven't yet. And maybe one of these days I'll run into you while record hunting!

Final Form looks like an awesome store! Love the name as well. And if you're ever in the southern parta of Sweden, unlikely as it may be, you're more than welcome to visit our little shop. If we survive the pandemic that is. It's rough.

Me and the wife have been trying to get up to Portland to check the city out. Will definitely check out some of these Record Stores.

The Record Stores in San Diego are amazing! Too many to list but I would definitely check out in no particular order.... Vinyl Junkies (South Park), Normal Records (Downtown), Taang Records (Hillcrest), Record City (Hillcrest), M-Theory (Mission Hills), Cow Records (Ocean Beach), Lou’s Records (Encinitas) and Spin Records (Carlsbad).

I moved to Oregon last March right before the pandemic shutdown everything so I didn’t get to go out until the first record store day last summer. I went to Music Millennium and loved it so much. I’ve since moved back to Utah, so here we have GreyWhale and Lavender Vinyl. Can’t wait to go to their record store days here 💜

Portland is great for everything.

Hit up all of the Zia Records in the Phoenix. Each location gets different types of albums used. Record High is a great place for pristine records but you are going to pay for it. Also The In Groove is a great place for new and used vinyl. Great places to check out in the Phoenix area. Rent a car because Phoenix is big and it can take some time to go just a few miles depending on time of day.
