Stuff Beginner Photographers ACTUALLY Need...

Thank you so much for not putting down beginners! Ive been watching a lot of beginer videos, and all of them have been putting their beginner photography down so hard, and i know its just cause theyve learned, but as a beginner seeing these beautiful photos their ridiculing while i compare them to my own. it just makes me feel so unmotivated. So thank you for not being like that, and focusing more on the fun of the hobby! Youve for sure helped me 💚

I just got my first DSLR with money I was given for my 39th birthday A couple of week back. After doing lots of research I went with the Canon 50D as it was within my budget but I did get an almost professional camera for that budget. I bought an 18-55 lens and a 55-200 lens as with me being new to photography I wanted a wide range to see what type of photography I actually enjoy(wildlife,landscape, urban etc etc) before I buy specific lenses for the type of photography I most enjoy. As for a bag we had a baby changing bag in plain grey which we never used and since the baby is now a toddler we probably wouldn't use it again so that is now my camera bag, its decent sized, lots of pockets, padded and water resistant. With regards to goals my intial overall goal is to only use manual settings and made a pact with myself to only do this(I did allow myself auto ISO as a treat occasionally 😂). My goals on each photography session are based on learning and hopefully mastering the settings of the camera for example my first time out with the camera was trying to take photos with the Bokah effect. Next time I might try to use long exposure and try get the dream like photos which long exposure can give. But it's my goals initially are trying to enjoy taking photos at the same time trying to figure out how each element of the triangle fits into the overall photography and how adjustments to one element effects the other elements.

Thanks for the good information. I'm quite proficient at composing wonderful photos with my iPhone 8+. I'm getting into "real" cameras because I want more seamless videos of RC airplanes flying fast in and out of focus. So far, I've been quite disappointed by the budget cameras I have tried. I can't justify $400 on a camera right now.
