Scratch instantly S... thats great because it really is a great language and engine... just waiting for the day the 3D version comes out.... for I cant really pull of 3D vary easily .... but the language is good for starting out... it's easy to understand.... has basically the most functionality over other typeless languages... and more

Man, game engines have come a long way. Back in my day of Windows 95 and 56k dial-up Internet (which I didn't always have access to growing up), there was this product I used some lawn-mower bucks to buy called Game Programming Starter Kit 2.0 (I wanna say the publisher was some entity known as Maximillion... whatever). I knew some basic, and a smidgeon of C, but outside of basic syntax, learning to do just about anything else was like knocking on random doors in Chinatown looking for a sifu. Game Programming Starter Kit 2.0 had some engine that it shipped with called "Acknex" (?) and had a few demonstrations of what it was supposedly capable of exporting. Good luck learning it, because the stack of digital books that it shipped with were completely anti-hand-holding and even contradicted the supposed "no real programming needed" take of the back-of-box advertisement. No tutorials. It was fun to play with the demos, or even try to make an ammo-box graphic in MS-PAINT.exe that I tried and failed to import into Acknex since I was apparently too ignorant, or dumb (or both) to figure out how to use the product.

I sure wish I had ANY of these options in my time as a naïve little dweeb. Even the demonstration it shipped with ( Angst: Rahz's Revenge ) was a wonky train wreck of a game that left me scratching my head, even though I was rooting for ANYTHING to get off the ground. The frame rate and animations were about as bad as one of my flip-books that I tried to make in 1st grade.

Idk about others but you did a great job putting source in the S tier but you did a bad job by puttung unity in the B tier this should be in the A tier if not in the S

Actually... There are dozens and dozens of other game engines and makers. After your named one, I see big potential in GB Studio, Gdevelop, Stencyl, and RPGPlayground(RPGmaker but easier).
Scratch is good for easy and simple games. But then it seemingly becomes a hassle, when it's more complex. RPGMaker is suitable for beginners. The source is not beginner friendly and its tech is old. Nothing new it has.
Unity, Unity, and Godot are like 3 brothers. With extensions, they can become quite beginner friendly. They share overall same capabilities, but the differences come from age, experience, and power. Unreal beats others by those aspects.
Construct and Gamemaker... I have no clear likes or dislikes. Seemingly beginner friendly. But Something feels off. Dont, know what.
Buildbox and LumberYard? I like that Buildbox is trying to become better. Buildbox Classic is quite intuitive. Lumberyard is pretty much dead in my eyes. To my knowledge, it's with another name.

godot 4 (not in the time of the video) has improved 3d so much more but unreal is still dominating 3d

Everyone forgets roblox studio, its free and it is easy to learn putting all the annyoing bugs aside

This list is very biased and off very little facts.

Unity & Unreal are S tier because of their engine and community. Plus the price of using is small compared to other software.

Godot is in A and I am learning it right now. And it is up there with unity in the 2D game space and improving.

Scratch & Game maker are B tier as they are just starting game devs to build small games. And help build towards building bigger games in the better engines.

Everything else is below either because it sucks or has limited access.

Probably don't make a tier list if you are just going to explain it for 3 mins.

Great video! If you do an update, please include the programming language (Godot`s GDScript is like Python and considered easy to learn vs C#) and Godot 4 improvements for 3D (look at the demos)!
