Raymond Archuleta Funeral services for Raymond Roger Archuleta, 17, of Minturn were held last week at the Lake Creek Baptist Church at Edwards. He died March 19 as the result of a train accident. He was born May 21, 1960 in Espanola, N.M. He came to Colorado in 1972, and attended Battle Mountain High School. Mr. Archuleta was employed as a driver for Total Condominium Management Firm of Vail. Armando Virgen officiated at the services. Concluding services were held at Santa Cruz Catholic Church in Santa Cruz, N.M. Interment was near Espanola, N.M.

You shouldn’t touch with your bare hands anything you come across in former mine developments, otherwise you’ll saturate your skin with all sorts of toxic elements such way, that neither the air medical service nor the ambulance will be able to catch you & to save you!😱😢

These are pyrites, including chalcopyrite (related to fool's gold), and glances (a trivial name for shiny chemical compounds, except for precious metals).🙄😎🧐

I live in a ghost town and there were several other small towns all around here each attached to one or more mines. A couple of the oldest are nearly gone only the cemetery remains at one. Old dumps with bottles parts of cars horse drawn wagons buggys and a multitude of items...
In a couple of months I am going up in the mountains and rescue a 42' Chevy that doesn't have a bullet hole in it. It is setting on top of about a 1953 Chevy truck.
There is a nearly complete 1930s LaSalle coupe up the other side of the valley that I would like to get, but they are restarting the mine over there and now it's all fenced off and posted. The nice thing is that this place closed down in the 1950s so all the junk vehicles are way old . Free street rod parts, unless you figure the hours you putting in strategically cutting them up so that they can be reassembled after you break your body packing them out piece by piece.

In the early 70's I delivered coal to the New Jersey Zinc Co mine at Gilman. I hauled the coal from Oak Creek.

I discovered this town when I lived in CO and was enamored by its beauty and the lower Belden mine. I eventually got engaged in Gilman... in 2012.

I visited Leadville with my family on a cross country road trip in 1969. We arrived with black, ominous clouds enveloping the town. We were on the wooden plank sidewalk heading back to our car when an incredible bolt of lightning with thunder and hail struck all at the same time. I recall hearing screaming as I ran for my life, and flung myself into the back of our station wagon. I hit the deck and my brother yanked me up by the shoulders and broadsided my face. It was then that I realized that the screams I’d heard were mine. Leadville is one of the creepiest places I’ve ever visited!

Raymond Archuleta lost his life in a mining accident. He is buried in La Puebla, New Mexico and is listed on Find A Grave.

These areas are so fascinating. I have been in a mine here in PA and I honestly don’t know how the miners did it. They drill in all directions not just front back side and top. It was very disorienting looking at all the areas they had worked on. I really enjoy your videos!

First on the list has some good pictures. Multiple archives on the Gilman area. Known a few old-timers that were born in Gilman before it shut down. Some only went up the road to Redcliff. Former resident of Redcliff in the 1980s early 90s.

i have a hunting calbin by that mine. The water up above is safe but not below. I know of 3 people who still have mining claims on that land so be carful they shoot truspasers

Be careful exploring this location.. I went back in 2017 and explored the entire site and the mill.. we had no problems but my buddy went back 2 years later and got caught by the Eagle county sheriff for trespassing.. he said the officers were cool though and felt bad about writing such pointless citations.. He even said the officer even mentioned the possibility of turning Gilman into a paintball or air soft field.. 😂😂 pretty damn good idea if you think about it 😅.. but it’d have to thoroughly cleaned.. love the content man keep it up ❤😊
