For anyone with modded vehicles, or offroaders, this couldnt be more important to learn. I cant get any shops near my house to correctly align my truck due to the modded suspension (they take the easy way out by saying its modded so itll never be perfect).
One thing to note is that caster doesnt affect tire wear. I typically set alignment came roughly the same on both, use a magnetic level on the brake rotor for camber, and string method for toe. All in maybe $25 for the kevel and string, cheap money if you have the patience.
Fantastic... this is something every so-called car enthusiast should understand, even if they don't necessarily do the job themselves...
Ответитьthank you
ОтветитьI had an alignment guy "sell" me some toe adjustment, argument being that it overcomes general road camber to resist drift to the edge of the road because of that camber...
Since not all roads are created equal, and generally steering pressure is not that much of a job anyway... BS and something to be scoffed at?
Sounds like there could be some sort of sacrifice (wear?) for something that is so inexact anyway (Especially in a country where road maintenance is lack-luster at best)?
0 toe by passive wheels will lead to light toe-out by high speed…it is worth to think about dynamic by Static alignment
ОтветитьWhy didn't you use those sheets for the toe?
ОтветитьZach: so now that we understand that...
Me: ... sorry, what?
So the string method is “
Individual toe adjustment “ , but what about the plates people use ?
It seems like people always adjust the driver side only.. I don’t get the plate method.
Great video
Nice explanation,
What do you think of the the Track Ace laser wheel alignment tool on eBay ?
Can you review it please…
You are the man! I will forever from now on be taking my 4runner to the shop to get my alignment set… got the taco tabs in so I hope I don’t have alignment creep. If the wife ever lets me use the garage for a few days this would make a fun project!
ОтветитьThis video was so informative I almost pressed the LIKE button twice.
Ответитьwtf is those bird in the background
ОтветитьWhat is thst squeaky sound I almost can't hear you over it
ОтветитьAs opposed to Chaotic Neutral, Lawful Evil, etc
Ответитьi miss old donut
ОтветитьI was more confused after watching this video than before it.
ОтветитьWhen starting toe, shouldn't you measure confirm each front against the other in the box to make sure your steering is squared up before you make any adjustments?
ОтветитьI’ve learned the hard way that this is not with the time and effort, would definitely suggest just paying someone to do it professionally
ОтветитьThanks for this video save me over a 150 bucks
ОтветитьIn my city they do it professionally for 20$ or free if you change the tires there. 😂😂😂😂
ОтветитьI have a lot of respect for Zach for finding a way to put on some energy for the camera when he was clearly drained and defeated by this whole process.
ОтветитьAs much as I love these guys, always adjust the rear first as the front will be compensating for the rear so now that they've adjusted the rear last the front will be out
ОтветитьYou did a great job Zach, but I think I'll pay the €35 to get mine aligned
Ответитьwhats the best place for a car alignment? The dealership or a local shop?
ОтветитьBro is doing math
Ответитьwtf is that noise 5 min in
ОтветитьWatching you not start in the rear on an alignment was fascinating. Also, did you lock the steering wheel in place?
ОтветитьI got a donut ad on a donut video? That’s awesome💀
ОтветитьIsnt 0 toe bad, because you need the preload on the tires? When you are completely straight the rim in your tire can always move a little bit from one to the other side, but when you have a little toe in or out, the rim is always pressed in the same direction, so that your driving is more stable. At least thats what I thought so far, but I am definitely no pro. What does the community say?
ОтветитьI was an alignment specialist for year and this is great info but I hope you got a real alignment at a shop after this
ОтветитьIts called Brake check.....
ОтветитьI love how it gets dark out 😅
Ответитьi did it one time by my self but never never again.20 times rawl under the car and drive then crawl again
ОтветитьLots of theory, which is great, but wish that you showed more how you did the setup and measurements.
Ответитьzachary u beauty
ОтветитьWhat tires are those
Ответитьsadly i didn't found the Video of what the alignment shop saied ;(
ОтветитьThe 10000000000000000$ question is how accurate is the DIY 219$ tool is. sadly we will never know
ОтветитьAnyone notice it starts to get dark meaning it took him all day to do this also meaning it really complicated and he was stumped on how to use it 1000% he had to watch 10 videos to know how to use the 219$ tool right
Ответить219$ for a tool thats complicated to use yea I'm just going to pay the 80$ for a professional alignment smh
ОтветитьPURE GENIUS. Way better than those 'monkeys' running those 40k computerized alignment machines.
ОтветитьI bought a set of the Tenhulzen alignment plates shown in the video, and I'm doing my own alignments now. Those plates will do toe measurements without having to set up strings. To me, using those plates are quicker than setting up strings. However, strings are much cheaper.
Ответитьwish i found this video 2 years ago take all the measurement go to the mechanic ask them to align according to my list of measurement no tools just a piece of paper.
ОтветитьWhy You multiply by 2? I found this :"
To calculate caster angle.
Turn wheel 20 deg ea way, multiply difference by 1.5
Turn wheel 15 deg, ea way, multiply by 2
Turn wheel 10 deg ea way, multiply by 3
My 2020 Toyota Prius XLE AWD does not come with rear adjustable camber control arms. I just ordered a pair of Godspeed rear adjustable camber control arms for $183 after tax and shipping. I just hope Rogers Toyota of Lewiston, ID would adjust the rear camber on this after-market part. If not, I would need to pay MORE for another alignment shop.
ОтветитьMy car’s alignment is neutral evil
Ответить“Only about $200”
WTF
Also my experience would say better to adjust rear axle before the front. Looks you got good system though. Ain't broke don't fix it
ОтветитьYou didn't mention kingpin inclination in the different angles while poking camber, toe and castor.
Haaa I'm just being a dick 😁
Awesome videos dudes 🤙
I don’t think he factored in that the tires under pressure are causing them to have clamping force and that’s why his measurements kept going back and fourth. It would sucked to keep jacking it up and down over and over to release the grip but might of been faster.
