The way you explained woodengraved printing and lithography was so short and effective. Incredible work. Your videos are so professional and well done. Thank you so much for your content
ОтветитьI feel pride knowing that comics, one if my favourite mediums, was surprisingly accepted by,undoubtedbly, one of the greatest writers that has ever walked the face if the earth,Goethe
ОтветитьComics art were invented by the Aztecs. Even Scott Mcloud admits it.
ОтветитьThis was absolutely fascinating. Thank you for bringing this innovator to my attention.
ОтветитьLove the videos , just subscribed
ОтветитьHold on but what about Hokusai? Like his Manga Books? As in the first manga / comics in Japan? Who was first? Hokusai was in his 30s when Rodolphe was born..
ОтветитьSo that who we blame
ОтветитьVery glad I found this channel.
ОтветитьNice👍
ОтветитьYou Sir deserves a follow. I really like what you have going on here and can't wait to see the future of it! + my personal hobby is now to try screen cap where you have your eyes closed / not looking excited ;)
ОтветитьWhat a fantastic lesson… rather than let his disability limit him, he turned into a strength (even if reluctantly at first). Fantastic story.
ОтветитьI am so glad I found your channel. Kudos for knowing about this particular creator. And that this is where comics began. So many people either start with famous funnies or action number one. Which aren’t even the first comics down in America. Wonder if you have a video about,” A visit to the gold Diggins by Jeremih saddlebags.” If you don’t that’s cool keep up the good work.
Ответить❤
ОтветитьDude, thank you for your content. Looking forward to seeing more.❤
ОтветитьYou should review the 4 seasons of LilFappyX
ОтветитьGreat vid
ОтветитьSpeak faster, zoom faster, leave faster.

ОтветитьTL;DR:
The art community has been a toxic space dominated by elitist gatekeepers since the very beginning.
Don’t let a**holes dictate to you what counts as art, so long as you’re actually putting in work to make something out of it.
What an awesome video and history lesson.
Awesome work!
that's the dopest self portrait ever
ОтветитьOne of the things that baffle more more than anything. The small but loud minority who think comic books are supposed to be this safe, conservative, non-political thing when. Triggered by the thought of a woman, POC, or gender related anything is in the comics/movies/television. And go out of their way to argue the opposite. Despite it being a fact. But then again, facts dont really mean what they used to.
ОтветитьI write a monthly column on comics for a European magazine, but I’ve never had the guts to tackle Töpffer. This video has inspired me, so thank you!
ОтветитьLiked and subscribed when you said "Good question, and we'll get to that, but first" and it wasn't a soonsor. Even though I bet we'll see them on your vids soon. Also fascinating vid, cant believe its your lowest in views.
ОтветитьAnd then Stan Lee tries to get credit for it.
ОтветитьHogarth also produced satirical cartoons as did James Gillray.
ОтветитьWow, I can't sven imagine all those art crirics reaction if they see modern art that get love by many modern critics these day.
ОтветитьGreat comic historian we have here! Thanks for sharing a brief glimplse into de history of Rodolphe Topffer, the father of western comic book format.
ОтветитьPlease do a Daredevil video
ОтветитьAmazing job!
ОтветитьWhat an interesting story!! Thank you for sharing it!!
ОтветитьInteresting.
ОтветитьAt the end of my college, I had to do a personal presentation for my final grade, and I did about comicbooks and it’s story, and it’s surprising to me, knowing that this man came from Switzerland, which is the place where I’ve grown up till this day!!
ОтветитьI can't call firstees but I can say I'm one of the first under 100,000 subscribers. Only noting this because I'm pretty sure you're going to have millions of subscribers in a hot minute.
Ответитьso happy I found your channel :) binged your videos and activated the bell in hope for more <3
ОтветитьThanks for introducing me to this comic history. Great job.
ОтветитьI may have missed it, but I just wanted to point out that "L'histoire de Monsieur Jabot" was inspired from a play by famous French comedy author and composer, Molière, "Le bourgeois gentilhomme", who, as the title would indicate, depicts the vain attenpts of a middle-class merchant to adopt the manners and customs of the nobility to gain access to that inner circle.
ОтветитьThis is fascinating. I really enjoyed it. Thank you!
ОтветитьThis is probably better than whatever zeb wells is cooking…
ОтветитьLore of The first comic is NOT what I expected momentum 100
ОтветитьThank you for this video. I never heard of Töpffer before and bought two compilation books of his "Bilderromane" inside and they are legitimately funny which I didn't expect at all. It's incredible to me how unknown the guy is, being not only a pioneer, but a really good and entertaining storyteller as well.
ОтветитьI always read that the first comic book as we understand them today started as collected works of comic strips.
ОтветитьThis was awesome, Matt! I had no idea about this story and I absolutely loved it :)
ОтветитьI'm glad Goethe came around before he died. That makes me really happy for some reason.
ОтветитьThis story deserves to told on the big screen
ОтветитьI don't know anything about comic books but this is one of the most interesting stories I've ever heard.
ОтветитьHe also created the first video game "Halo 2" in 1845.
ОтветитьAs a Swiss and comic lover, I'm proud that a Swiss guy invented comics!
ОтветитьThe content you create is so great. Thanks for the work. A pure gem on this platform
