Dr. Harris: The San Antonio Orthopaedic Specialists and the Spine Hospital are always looking for innovations and new advances in arthroplasty surgery. We are currently conducting a study having to do with a long term local anesthetic that may provide great relief from discomfort for several months after the surgery, instead of several days, which are currently available. We are also partnering on a study having to do with Trochanteric pain and on the side of the hip that is refractory to physical therapy. This is a very simple and elegant treatment which may provide long term relief for people who have been unable to get rid of the symptoms with exercises or exterior injections alone.
