The Japanese Red Cross Society and the Imperial Family have had strong associations since the end of World War II, with female members of the family serving as Honorary Presidents and Honorary Vice- Presidents.
In April 2024, Princess Aiko joined the society as a staff member working as a part of the Junior Red Cross and Volunteer section.
