What do YOU think is next that will wow us?
ОтветитьThe one feature missing from Sony I would like added is pre-capture as on the Olympus OM-1. As a wildlife photographer that would be really useful to grab that unexpected moment, like bird taking off. I hope will be on the A1 mark 2 - That would get me to buy. I think all new cameras today should automatically upload to the cloud when connected to wifi.
ОтветитьSmartphone-like stabilization & internal ND for sure.
Internal SSD would be cool too.
But let's not forget the software front.
Computational photography for the times you just want to take snapshots + easy way to share them on social media (directly or through the smartphone).
(Not to mention a smooth way of backing up images & videos to the cloud directly from the camera. Preferably automatic like Google Photos on smartphones).
Polar Pro is mad right now 😂
Ответитьwhats the of 2x desqueeze in a 16:9 sensor. lumix has open gate for ages, sonys is late. i would love internal braw recording in sony's but thats just a dream
ОтветитьAs a vivid RX1RII lover, I‘m starving for a mark3version for years. Its still good though but would be even better with nowadays AF speeds and videofunctions.
ОтветитьAbsolutely Right 👍🏼
ОтветитьCouldn't agree more, that was my initial first thought too... the only feature I miss from my FX3 is the internal ND and I think its coming soon.. also if the stabilization would get to the level when gimbals wouldn't be necessary for simple shoots. GoPro's "square" frame is pretty awesome too, and then get a vertical or horizontal frame... these are things that I think its pretty manageable to put into the next Sony cameras.
ОтветитьActually, I think every extra pixel count for wildlife. I wouldn't hesitate to buy instantly a 200mpx camera, that would allowed my 135gm to be a real contender against the 600mm gm, making way more easy to get some shots where birds or insect go out of framing on a such a narrow angle of view. I would love the internal nd filter too, but even a 100mpx camera would be more interesting to me.
ОтветитьIf Sony made lenses with built Electronic Variable ND Filter (including auto function) that works like the Sony FX9, FS7 II, FX6, FS5, FS5 II, and PXW-Z190 / Z280 camcorders. I would buy it for all my current cameras. We wouldn't lose any stabilization in the body.
ОтветитьAdd Bluetooth for wireless headphones inside cameras, mic receiver — just put it all inside the camera. 8K won’t be bigger file sizes with more efficient codecs. Perhaps AV1 will be a game changer and 16K will have the same size as todays 4K. It’s fascinating to think about the next big thing.
ОтветитьI don´t understand? We already have internal ND with outstanding stabilization for many many years now. It´s called LiveND an integrated in the Olympus E-M1X, E-M1 mkIII and in the OM1. You don´t have to wait or spend 5.000 USD for that.
ОтветитьRicoh GR III has internal memory and that thing saved me a few times after realizing that I left my SD in my computer.
ОтветитьI love this. Really made me think of what would get me out the door to pick up a new body
Ответитьall great ideas!
Please sony make the RX1RIII !!!!!!!!!
Yep I’d sell my FX3 for that.
Ответитьraw video on all cameras!
ОтветитьI've been praying for internal ND for years now and hoping that the engineers of any brand will find a way to do it and the rest will follow suit. As someone with 6 ND filters to pair with all my lenses so that in run and gun situations, I don't have to spend time removing and adding back on NDs every time I change lenses, I have spent about $2000 for these filters ($300 per 82mm VND). I would gladly spend an extra $1000 in camera price just for this feature just because it would save money in terms of buying these filters and the convenience of never needing to deal with them. Automatic gamechanger.
ОтветитьOpen gate and internal ND is the two for me
ОтветитьInternal storage would be hard to see by sony until it becomes norm by others because sony sells it's own SD cards. Internal 1TB memory would damage greatly the memory card market.
ОтветитьComputational photography/AI features and built in socials would be great.
ОтветитьRed / alexa quality in Sony body
ОтветитьDefinitely internal NDS on the successor to the FX3, I'm sure they could fit it in if they made it thicker, look at the canon R5C that thing is chunky. I think it would also be cool if the screen was detachable or moveable so you could rig it up similar to a Komodo/box style camera where you could add on a vmount battery. Flexibility to use it as is, or rig it up for a whole day of shooting.
Like you said a lot of content is vertical now as well, so maybe a native way to rig it up vertically as well, or switch between. I currently use a Falcam collar, and it's been pretty sick being able to quickly change from horizontal to vertical.
I think you're also right regarding 8k and 200MP, we're still waiting for everything to move to 4k so for now things like 10bit, and 120 or 240fps will keep 4k fresh and relevant.
Over the air updates is the other things, my god Sony goes full retard when it comes to updates. The camera should be able to just connect to wifi and update itself.
Why does there always have to be a next big thing and have us excited about new gear? Let us just get on with the gear we have... These new things and toys keep me poor as I just want all of them, always! :D
ОтветитьPerhaps we have reached the maximum development level of the cameras.
To understand it imagine the computer mouse: what potentially more could be invented with the mouse to make excited about it?
Or PC CPU: are average customers worried about CPU these days? No, because almost every laptop PC will do the job.
I'm still using original Sony A9 from 2017. I know that new models have improved ergonomics, a bit more and better AF modes, higher quality EVF. But frankly, this is a still a "perfect" camera for my use and spending more $$$ on a bit better camera just doesn't make sense.
That being said I'm enjoining watching the new releases to see how it goes ...
Very unique clip, Chris. Not just your daily tech analysis, but forward thinking. Keep it up!
ОтветитьInternal ND is good but if we're thinking the world's the limit i would like a focusing system that i can command, like setup the shot then click the two points of focus to shift from age then initiate it. I would love to do a hands free dolly zoom as well, the zooming part anyway. I would love recipes on my Sony as well 😍
ОтветитьYep for sure! Internal ND’s, cameras with built in mic like ECM-M1 auto mode, or even 32bit float built in mic. Been super happy with my a7siii. Agree with everything you said.
ОтветитьI want 6K plus everything you said because I like to be able to crop in. Please, Sony because I have to much money in the lens. Yes internal storage and a seriously good screen, not the piece of garbage on my A74/FX30/FX30
ОтветитьInternal ND for sure, but I don’t care about that. I want true super 35 Sony camera with a global shutter, maintain IBIS and be able to be more flexible with aspect ratios, so 17x9, 16x9 3x2, 4x5. All down sampled to 4K. 17x9 sensor
ОтветитьInternal ND , no Cap
ОтветитьI just got an A7iv to pair with my FX3 today and I’m beyond excited. It reminds me so much of my first camera (A7iii), but upgraded in every way imaginable. Would love some internal NDs plus stabe in the future!
ОтветитьWe need nothing new. The quality of photographs is stagnating, even decreasing. The cameras are already too good, makes them photographers lazy. All these features are turning cameras in expensive point and shoots. There is a huge gap between camera 'reviewers' and real users. Have you heard about a Dan Winters or Annie Leibovitz camera review episode where they extensively talking about features for half an hour? Nope. Because they are real photographers who know the camera is just the final tool of the creation flow. Because they know the light is more important than the tool. Because your imagination is more important than the tool. And we have less and less artists like them.
ОтветитьAll cameras should have crazy ibis and internal nd's
ОтветитьBetter operating systems / security features
ОтветитьI’d be okay with a front adapter by Sony with the electric nd like how the new red did, be so down even at $1000 price
ОтветитьHDR video (like smartphones), GoPro level of stabilization in camera (the stuff you can do with sony in catalyst), change depth of field after capture ala iPhone, 5g connectivity, 6" rear screens or at last as big as fucking possible depending on body size. Give us samsung amoled screens. Sony has the tech.
ОтветитьDoesn't the surprising and superb Olympus OM-1 got built-in ND? I think so.
ОтветитьInternal ND (like the FX6) and …
Full (no crop) 4K 120p (downsampled from 6K) in 10bit 4:2:2 All-I both internal and external to a recorder (Atomos Ninja V+) .. WITH autofocus.
That’s the dream.
How can you make a wish list and not include 32-bit float recording!! Imagine being able to capture digital audio using a Sony hotshoe mic and NEVER have to set your levels or worry about audio clipping? Audio quality is arguably more important than video quality yet rarely gets mentioned or considered.
ОтветитьGreat kid as always. I agree with the variable ND feature as the next must have feature. I made a video on why the Sony is distancing itself from the a7s series because it can’t bring much more to it. It will be interesting to see what they do.
ОтветитьI’m desperate for Airdrop! Or similar really efficient wireless transmission of a single short video straight to your phone or tablet!
I know there are ways to do that but everything I have tried is too clunky for me to post a dunk that just happened in the moment.
I also think it should be at least 24 megapixels so that way the photos are more usable and also will allow you to use APSC mode in 4K
ОтветитьWould be awesome if Sony bring a compact Venice lines instead of FX line. Sony venice styled camera but compact haha. Like komodo x
ОтветитьHave you seen the DPJourney guy test of the 12mp FX3 against 6K DJI 4D and 8K Red cameras? Turns out we were lied about the low light king :D. 12800 has the same amount of noise on all cameras but the FX3 is very bad between 3200 and 12800ISO.
So yes I prefer 6K or even better - 8K sensor for video.
Vario ND - you have to sacrifice the IBIS and you can have it.
Just being able to shoot PAL 25p in XAVC HS H.265 would make me by a new Sony camera... Filmed a surgery the other day, with two FX3's and one FX30, they ended up asking me to film an extra one which then over run. I have never been so scared about running out of SD cards space, almost had a heart attack when it got down to 9 mins left
Ответить6k no crop and built in ND with stabilization, Sony can take my money.
ОтветитьYeah... the biggest problem with my camera, is how happy and content I am with it.
Ответить
